Salary

£45,000 – £55,000 per annum (Fixed-Term Contract) or
£300 – £350 per day (Ltd Company Contractor – Outside IR35)

Shift Pattern / Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:35
Friday: 08:00 – 15:10

Must hold active UK Security Clearance

An established engineering organisation operating within the defence and protected mobility sector is seeking an experienced Project Manager for an immediate start.

This role sits within a technically focused business unit responsible for delivering vehicle systems, services, and support solutions that maintain operational capability.

You will lead multiple engineering projects within a fast-paced, engineering-led environment where technical understanding and structured delivery are essential.

The position offers the opportunity to contribute to critical national capability programmes while working closely with engineering, production, and key external stakeholders.

This is a six-month engagement with both fixed-term and day-rate options available.

  • Lead multiple engineering projects from initiation through to delivery
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Monitor milestones, dependencies, risks, and critical paths
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required standards
  • Maintain clear governance documentation and reporting structures

Technical & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to define requirements
  • Oversee technical direction and support resolution of engineering challenges
  • Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory standards
  • Guide engineering change processes throughout the project lifecycle

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners
  • Support structured communication, reporting, and review meetings
  • Contribute to bids and proposals to support future project growth

The Person

  • Degree-level education, ideally within an engineering or technical discipline
  • Proven experience delivering technical or engineering-led projects
  • Strong project planning capability, including use of MS Project and Microsoft Office
  • Experience managing budgets, risks, and structured governance processes
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders
  • Clear and confident communication skills across technical and leadership audiences
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment
  • Must hold active UK Security Clearance
