Job Description
The Project Manager will oversee day-to-day project delivery and ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution while managing the six core dimensions of project management:
- Scope
- Schedule
- Finance
- Risk
- Quality
- Resources
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication capabilities are essential to fulfil this role.
Responsibilities
Delivery Under the Asset Intelligence Portfolio
Projects within the Asset Intelligence Portfolio typically involve advanced analytics, digital tools, telemetry, AI-driven insights, and broader initiatives that increase visibility, performance, and optimisation of clean and wastewater asset networks.
The Project Manager Will
PLANNING AND DELIVERY
- Deliver initiatives such as digital twins, asset monitoring solutions, network optimisation tools, and predictive analytics pilots
- Coordinate cross-functional delivery teams including data engineers, operational SMEs, suppliers, and innovation specialists
- Maintain Agile delivery cadences to accelerate development cycles and iterative release of functionality
PERFORMANCE AND DATA GOVERNANCE
- Implement processes ensuring all data-driven solutions comply with data governance, cyber security, and operational integrity standards
- Track performance metrics for digital assets (e.g., model accuracy, data latency, uptime performance)
- Support the adoption and scale-up of Asset Intelligence tools into BAU operations
TECHNICAL AND INNOVATION INTEGRATION
- Facilitate testing and validation of new technologies such as: Computer vision models; Machine learning analytics; IoT and real-time telemetry enhancements; AI-based decision support systems
- Document capability gaps and manage delivery risks tied to data quality, model robustness, and system integration.

PROJECT CO_ORDINAITON AND DELIVERY
- Plan, execute, and deliver water infrastructure and digital innovation projects
- Manage timelines, budgets, and resource plans using Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban)
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Maintain accurate project documentation, RAID logs, and delivery boards (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Trello)
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
- Act as the primary contact between internal departments (engineering, operations, design, innovation) and external parties (contractors, regulators, customers)
- Ensure timely and transparent communication, producing meeting packs, delivery updates, and formal reports
- Manage expectations and resolve conflicts across diverse stakeholder groups
INNOVATION SUPPORT
- Work closely with innovation teams to test and pilot emerging technologies such as AI, digital twins, and automation tools
- Evaluate feasibility, gather stakeholder feedback, track KPIs, and produce technical assessments
- Coordinate transition from pilot to scaled operational deployment where applicable
COMPLIANCE AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
- Ensure all project risks, issues, and dependencies are logged, monitored, and escalated appropriately
- Drive adherence to regulatory standards, safety procedures, and quality assurance processes
- Lead audits, readiness reviews, and quality checkpoints to maintain project compliance

Required Capabilities
The Project Manager will demonstrate:
- Agile Methodology Expertise - Scrum, Kanban, iterative delivery, backlog refinement
- Sprint Facilitation - Effective delivery of Agile ceremonies and cadence management
- Backlog Management - Organising, prioritising, and refining product and sprint backlogs
- Estimation & Planning - Supporting story estimation and realistic sprint planning using Agile metrics
- Infrastructure Knowledge - Strong understanding of clean water and wastewater systems
- Innovation & Emerging Tech Awareness - Including AI, digital twins, computer vision, and sensing technologies
- Risk & Compliance Management - Identifying project risks, implementing mitigation strategies
- Stakeholder Engagement - Clear communication with engineers, regulators, customers, suppliers
- Cross-functional Team Leadership - Driving collaboration across innovation, design, operations, and IT
Deliverables
The Project Manager Will Provide
- Detailed project plans, schedules, RAID logs, and status reports
- Sprint artefacts (boards, burndowns, reviews, retrospectives)
- Governance and assurance documentation
- Technology evaluation and pilot reports
Specific Qualifications / Experience required: GCM05-GCM06
Domain Experience: Water (Nice to have)
Technology Experience: MSP, Visio, MS Suite
