About The Role
Salary: £44,115 - £51,900 (depending on experience)
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Developer Services team, where you will play a key role in delivering projects that support growth and development across our region. This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of new developments by ensuring that proposed works do not adversely impact the sewerage network and comply with Northumbrian Water's policies and standards. You will provide technical expertise across sewer adoption, sewer diversion, sewer connection and pre-development enquiry processes, helping developers and customers navigate requirements while ensuring the long-term integrity and performance of wastewater assets.
- Working closely with developers, consultants, contractors, local authorities and internal teams, you will provide day-to-day technical guidance and support throughout the lifecycle of development projects.
- You will assess and technically review sewer adoption and diversion applications, ensuring proposals meet the relevant standards and minimise operational and service risks.
- The role also involves supporting the successful delivery and final adoption of new sewer infrastructure under Section 104 agreements in accordance with company procedures.
As a key point of contact for developers and customers, you will manage expectations, provide proactive customer service and help resolve technical queries relating to the delivery of wastewater infrastructure and the diversion of existing assets. You will also work closely with site-based colleagues to monitor project progress and support the successful implementation of schemes.
Alongside your technical responsibilities, you will contribute to team performance by achieving agreed targets, producing reports and performance updates, and ensuring all activities are carried out safely and in line with company policies and procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical problem-solving, stakeholder engagement and customer service to help deliver essential infrastructure that supports growth and development across the region.
About You

You'll be highly organised, able to manage competing priorities effectively and comfortable working to targets in a fast-paced environment. A flexible and proactive approach is essential, along with the ability to use sound judgement to solve problems and make informed decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
