A global engineering group manufacturing complex metal solutions to the Aerospace, Defence and High Technology sectors is expanding one of its operations and has a new vacancy for a Project Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager, the position will be responsible for the successful delivery of key customer programmes from contract through to delivery and key account management.

Applicants are sought with proven experience of successful New Product Introduction and strong account management skills gained within a highly regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace, automotive, Defence, etc).

The Role

  • Work with new and existing customers to understand requirements, expectations, contractual obligations and strategic objectives.
  • Establish appropriate programme governance and reporting structures.
  • Ensure programme actions are clearly defined, owned and closed within agreed timescales.
  • Establish programme objectives, milestones, deliverables and governance arrangements.
  • Lead regular customer programme reviews and performance meetings.
  • Own the customer-facing programme schedule.
  • Work closely with the production & supply Chain teams to ensure customer demand is understood.
  • Monitor customer OTD and programme milestone performance.
  • Identify potential delivery risks before they impact the customer.
  • Lead recovery plans for late deliveries, capacity constraints, quality issues and supplier delays.
  • Maintain visibility of the critical path from customer demand through to final delivery.

  • Proven experience in Programme, Project or Key Account Management gained within aerospace, automotive, defence or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing complex customer programmes from development through to production and delivery.
  • Experience working directly with OEMs or Tier 1 customers.
  • Demonstrable experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, engineering and supply-chain processes.
  • Experience managing customer requirements, programme schedules, risks and issues.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Project Management qualification (PMP, PRINCE2, or similar) preferred.
