Base Location
For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from Aberdeen, or Perth. This role will be supporting our projects in Angus, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire regions, and requires a minimum attendance of 3 days per week on site.
Salary
£51,600 - £77,400 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role
We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the construction and delivery of major overhead line projects as part of our ASTI investment programme.
Joining the SSEN Transmission Capital Delivery team, you’ll work on the TKUP Overhead Line new-build infrastructure across Angus, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. You’ll take ownership of projects through the construction and delivery phases, bringing together project teams, contractors and stakeholders to achieve safe and successful outcomes.
With projects varying in scale and complexity and typically ranging in value from £20m to more than £500m, these roles offer the opportunity to contribute to a diverse and high-profile portfolio of critical transmission infrastructure supporting Scotland’s transition to Net Zero.
You will
- Lead the safe delivery of major overhead line construction projects, taking ownership from mobilisation through to successful completion.
- Bring together project teams, contractors and key stakeholders, creating a collaborative environment focused on programme, cost, quality and regulatory requirements.
- Build trusted relationships across the project, encouraging open communication and working collectively to resolve challenges and keep delivery on track.
- Promote a positive safety culture, ensuring SSE standards, LCP governance requirements and industry best practice are embedded throughout construction.
- Support, coach and develop team members, providing clear direction and creating an inclusive environment where people can contribute and succeed.

You have
- A well-developed background in project management, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil engineering or construction, with experience delivering large or complex projects.
- Strong commercial and contract management experience, ideally including NEC3 contracts, project budgets, forecasting and integrated programme management.
- A collaborative and supportive leadership style, with the ability to bring teams and contractor partners together around shared goals.
- A sound understanding of health and safety legislation, including CDM regulations, and a commitment to creating a positive safety culture.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, alongside a valid driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to project locations.
A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to site, typically spending 2–3 days per week on location during active construction periods.
