Job: Project Manager (Education)

Organisation: Baker Dearing Educational Trust

Location: Homeworking with regular travel to employer sites and UTCs across England. All reasonable expenses for travel will be reimbursed.

Salary: Actual annual salary £35,000 (Full-time equivalent salary £45,000)

Contract: Full time, term time only. Fixed term contract for 12 months. Opportunity to extend should follow on support proving successful.

Start date: Flexible, ideally from the start of September 2026

Reporting to: Curriculum and Innovation Director

This is an exceptional opportunity to help deliver a range of exciting projects and programmes that strengthen partnerships between University Technical Colleges (UTCs), schools, employers and membership organisations, creating more opportunities for young people to engage with high-quality technical education.

Baker Dearing Educational Trust

Baker Dearing is the charity that established and continues to support the national network of 44 employer-led technical schools, known as University Technical Colleges (UTCs). UTCs are delivering on their original mission of providing young people with an employer-guided, blended academic and technical education that equips them with the skills, experiences and opportunities needed to succeed in future careers.

The job responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with UTCs, schools, employers, membership organisations and other strategic partners, the Project Manager will plan, coordinate and deliver a range of projects and activities that bring together education and industry to create meaningful opportunities for students, teachers and employers.
  • The role combines strategic coordination with hands-on project delivery, managing activities from initial planning and stakeholder engagement through to implementation, evaluation and reporting.
  • You will design and deliver programmes that support young people’s skills development, strengthen employer engagement and enhance collaboration across the UTC network and wider education sector.
  • You will use strong organisational skills, evidence and feedback to monitor progress, demonstrate impact and continually improve project delivery.

Qualifications, experience and skills required:

  • Educated to degree level
  • Project management qualification is desirable
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working independently or in small teams, taking ownership of project delivery from initial planning to completion
  • Proven experience of building and managing relationships with employers or other external partners
  • Experience of developing and delivering employer engagement activity, such as student events or employer projects
  • Experience of monitoring project performance and maintaining records
  • Experience working in the education, skills or technical/vocational training sector
  • Knowledge of careers education framework is desirable
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • High level of English language proficiency
