Job Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Project Manager, Engineering Services at our Crisp Malt, Great Ryburgh location.

Primary Objective

The role of the engineering projects manager is to propose, scope, cost, and deliver the medium and large construction, plant equipment, and energy projects within the group.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete outline scope proposals, and review, for projects targeted in strategic planning.
  • From project scope develop and theory test outline solutions with internal customers. Follow the company Management of Change process.
  • Create project cost analysis, timeline, and proposals for presentation and approval.
  • Coordinate monthly operations KPI reporting.
  • Deliver projects on time, in full, and within approved budgets.
  • Delivery of project to be technically sound, and sustainable. Adhere to all relevant safety compliance and legislation.
  • Coordinate all aspects of project management reviews and meetings. To include suppliers, contractors, and site contacts.
  • Review and report on project levels of success, budget compliance, commissioning, and handover to relevant site team.

General Responsibilities

  • Full awareness of project day-to-day issues and actions including, safety, production downtime, people, quality of works, contractor management. Supporting and/or escalating these as required.
  • Ensure accuracy of site monthly reporting using project management systems.
  • Implement business improvement procedures when required.
  • Ensure contractors are approved and adhere to company standards.
  • Complete in-person site Audits to drive contractor compliance to company standards, and target improvements.
  • Promote teamwork and communication across the group including liaison with operations team and Group engineering.
  • Manage all project milestones, reporting progress at each stage including time scale/cost position/risks.
  • Assist operations team in training and development of technical skills related to equipment installed.
  • Project is compliant during construction and at completion with all regulatory requirements including health and safety, environmental, building, electrical, and maintenance best practice techniques.
  • Ensure project documentation is adequate and any spares, maintenance requirements processes are in place.

Financial Accountability (Budgets, Sign-off Responsibility)

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • BSc. Degree in an Engineering discipline, equivalent technical qualification, or evidence of experience to a high technical level.
  • Relevant professional experience of a minimum of 5 years, and a strong track record in the management of detailed engineering activities, including industrial processing projects of value £50,000 to £500,000, must have good understanding of legal aspects of contracts and have the ability to advise on contract content.
  • Communication and personnel management skills. Ability to present project proposals to senior directors and plant managers.
  • Flexible in the approach to travel to all CMG sites. Travel will be required to Germany and Poland in addition to the UK production sites.
  • Estimate ~20% travel time but may include prolonged occasions while projects nearing delivery.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Drive to work across a wide breadth of tasks which arise within the department.
  • Full UK driving license

Desirable

  • Previous malting industry experience.
  • Management qualification.
  • DSEAR responsibility experience related to dusts, grains, and material handling, e.g., pelletising.
