The Global People team anticipates, shapes and drives KPMG's People priorities in support of our Trust and Growth ambition. Global People designs and delivers innovative solutions that support execution of our Collective Strategy under our agreed priority areas: Ethical & Collaborative Culture, Global Mobility, Inclusion, Diversity & Equity, Learning & Development and Talent, underpinned by technology solutions from our Digital HR team.
The mandate of the Global People team is to drive execution on the global business strategy through our collective People Strategy working together, and with our colleagues around the world, to deliver leading HR service and support to our global functions, regions, member firms and staff. Global People is responsible for designing and delivering solutions focusing on our globally agreed strategic imperatives of Mobility, Diversity & Inclusion, Culture, Digital HR, Talent and L&D.
About this Team
The mandate of Global L&D is to develop and execute a global learning strategy in partnership with both global and member firm leadership that builds the capabilities needed to achieve KPMG’s business strategies and priority annual business goals. Our Global Strategic Plans require a consistent, KPMG-wide approach to building the skills and competences needed to transform our business and achieve our goals of Growth and Trust. Global L&D will work closely with the business to identify, design/curate/develop, coordinate and deliver high quality, efficient and effective learning and performance support solutions directly aligned to KPMG’s needs and requirements.
Global L&D is responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of the L&D strategies for:
- Global Audit and Assurance
- Global Tax & Legal
- Global Advisory
- Global strategic cross functional opportunities
We will do this by working with the business as performance consultants, bringing together firms to identify and design programs critical to support our global strategy in the most effective and cost-efficient manner. The audience for the performance and learning solutions provided by Global L&D is very diverse and encompasses all employees of KPMG globally – partners, professionals and support staff.

Solutions include performance and knowledge management support, formal training (both digital and in-classroom), learning on the job opportunities and learning through collaboration with others. Program execution and design will take place where it is most logical to occur and can include uplifting member firm solutions and co-creation with direct member firm involvement. As part of our mission, Global L&D will work with the business and member firm L&D teams to continue to build and strengthen a continuous learning culture including channels for both formal and informal learning.
This also includes identifying and implementing new and innovative approaches to learning, such as leveraging new and exciting digital learning solutions and appropriate learning and collaboration technology platforms with support from Global People Digital HR and Global Digital teams.
Role summary
The Project Manager reports to the Project and Resource Lead and is responsible for managing a portfolio of assigned projects for Global Learning & Development. Projects will range in size from simple projects with a single deliverable to complex projects with many deliverables and dependencies. The Project Manager will, as needed, contribute to the analysis of processes and data to identify opportunities for improvements and efficiencies for the Global L&D team. Robust SME and stakeholder relationship management is a key aspect to the role. This role is responsible for scheduling the project, ensuring it adheres to our agreed development processes, project management standards, time and budget requirements and that quality assurance processes are incorporated into the project plan. The Project Manager will proactively monitor the project’s progression and communicate with relevant team members as appropriate, to ensure the project stays on track and co-ordinate reporting on project status for stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
- Conducting end-to-end project management, applying consistent project management standards and quality assurance
- Manages a portfolio of projects for Global Learning and Development working closely with leads for specific projects to gain a deep understanding of project requirements and constraints.
- Provides advice and counsel on project management approaches for specific projects based on a broad understanding of the business, service and resource capacity risks and impacts
- Develops detailed project schedules in Clarizen for complex projects including interdependencies
- Identifies and manages interdependencies and risks or escalates for resolution
- Ensures project compliance with Global L&D development processes
- Works closely with the Lead Project Manager to understand and ensure compliance with KPMG's Project Management methodologies, standards and practices
- Proactively monitors and supports projects to ensure plans are meeting quality, cost and time goals
- Establishes and holds regular project meetings for assigned specific projects, documenting outcomes and updates project plans as required
- Carries out activities as required to support the Project Lead and keep the project on track, including:
- Challenging the Project Lead on the appropriateness of initial project plans
- Communicating with relevant team members as appropriate, to ensure milestones are met

Project Reporting
- Works with the other members of the Project Management team to ensure timely and accurate reporting of the project portfolio is provided to Global People leadership, Global L&D Leadership and business stakeholders:
- Works closely with Project Leads to ensure project status information and data for leadership reporting is accurately captured and maintained in Clarizen, in line with Global L&D PMO information standards and ensure timely reporting.
- Prepares project dashboards and reports for specific projects or across the portfolio as required
Maintaining productive internal and external relationships across project teams
- Maintains ongoing, productive relationships with stakeholders across project teams
- Participation in global networks, maximising virtual collaboration, knowledge sharing and best practices
Taking initiative to stay abreast of latest project management trends and practices
- Best practices in project management for potential implementation within the Global People team
- Provides advice and counsel to key internal and external stakeholders on the effective and efficient management of Global People projects
Experience / Knowledge / Qualification
Experience/Knowledge
- Project management experience with the ability to work cross border and virtually
- Experience working in a complex international or diverse cross-cultural environment ideally gained in a professional services firm
- Comfortable with complexity and finding a new path or solution coupled with strong business acumen
- Good communication skills with the ability to articulate clear, compelling ideas; confident and effective interacting with senior business leaders
- Collaborative and with the ability to establish and build strong, professional relationships both internally and externally
- Strong leadership skills and team and people development skills, role modelling ethical and collaborative working, and able to foster a creative and inclusive working environment
- Confidence in working in an ambiguous, constantly changing environment and prepared to be responsive and flexible.
- Strong client service orientation
Description of level of Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent qualification would be desirable
Technical skills required
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail and ability to manage competing deliverables
- Strong technical skills in MS Office and SharePoint
- Strong communication and presentation skills
