Project Manager (Finance background)
Location: Sheffield (3 days per week in the office)
Contract Type: Inside IR35
Duration: Initial 6 months (with potential extension)
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in Financial Services to join a leading organisation on a contract basis. This role will be based in Sheffield, requiring 3 days per week onsite, with the remaining days working remotely.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex projects within highly regulated financial environments, managing stakeholders across business and technology teams, and driving projects through the full delivery lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of business and technology projects within a banking environment.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and risk registers.
- Manage project governance, reporting, and stakeholder communications.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including business, technology, operations, risk, and compliance.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and to budget.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Drive change management and business readiness activities.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership and steering committees.

Required Experience
- Proven experience as a Project Manager within Banking or Financial Services.
- Strong understanding of project delivery methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile.
- Experience managing large-scale business change, regulatory, technology, or transformation projects.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, including engagement with senior executives.
- Strong risk, issue, and dependency management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and organisational skills.

Desirable Skills
- Experience delivering regulatory, operational resilience, payments, lending, risk, or digital transformation projects.
- Professional project management certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, or Agile certifications.
- Experience working with third-party vendors and offshore teams.
