Technical Project Manager – IoT & Embedded Systems

Rate: £550 per day + VAT, outside IR35

Location: Kingston upon Thames

Onsite: 3 days per week

Duration: 15 months

Role Overview

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to lead the development and delivery of connected IoT products incorporating electronics, embedded firmware, wireless communications, and cloud technologies.

You will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and external suppliers, managing projects from system architecture and prototyping through validation, certification, and production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own project delivery across electronics, embedded firmware, and IoT connectivity.
  • Develop and manage technical project plans, milestones, dependencies, and critical paths.
  • Manage technical risks, issues, changes, and project dependencies.
  • Track development against scope, schedule, cost, and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate PCB design, prototype builds, hardware bring-up, and engineering validation.
  • Manage integration between devices, gateways, cloud platforms, and applications.
  • Support transition from prototype to NPI and volume production.
  • Provide concise technical status, risk, and delivery reporting to senior management.

Essential experience in:

  • 3+ years experience in Electronics / embedded systems product development.
  • Managing small multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Hardware and firmware development lifecycles.
  • IoT architectures and connected devices.
  • Product verification, validation, and certification.
  • Supplier and manufacturing management.
  • Project planning, risk, and change management.

Desirable experience with:

  • C/C++
  • RTOS
  • STM32/nRF/ESP32
  • BLE
  • Wi-Fi
  • Embedded Linux
