Project Manager – UK Defence (Future Systems Portfolio)

The Role

As a Project Manager within our UK Defence function, you will act as the focal point for projects, leading multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful achievement of internal and customer objectives.

Key Duties:

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the delivery of projects within the Future Systems Portfolio of the IDT (Integration & Delivery Team), one of five areas within Combat Communication and Information Systems IDT.
  • Oversighting the Autonomy/Uncrewed Research and Trials and advanced Radar research portfolios.
  • Leveraging our Systems of Systems expertise to:
    • Establish new business streams
    • Develop digital enablers and facilities to expand maritime delivery
    • Drive cross-domain integration activities in both short and long-term strategies

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining positive engagement with portfolio customers, partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensuring project outcomes are delivered to agreed baselines (customer satisfaction, time, cost, and quality).
  • Collaborating with Operations and Engineering leadership to foster efficient, collegiate project delivery.
  • Aligning order, revenue, and margin (ORM) performance with IDT strategic objectives.
  • Upholding adherence to the Operating Framework across all project activities.

EssentialExperience for the Project Manager

You must have:

  • 1–4+ years of experience leading businesses, projects, or P3 (Projects/Programmes/Portfolios) functions, with a proven track record in complex project delivery.
  • Demonstrated success in multi-customer project delivery.
  • Experience in Defence or regulated industries.

Essential Qualifications

  • A recognised project management qualification, such as:
    • PRINCE2
    • AMP (Association for Project Management)
    • PMP (Project Management Professional)

Location & Working Arrangement

  • Primary site: Portsmouth
  • Contract: 37 hours per week, with a minimum of three days per week on-site attendance.
