The Role
The Project Manager plays a key role in delivering technology and business-change initiatives across Softcat. You apply structured delivery approaches to bring clarity, organisation, and predictability to projects. Working across multiple business areas, systems, and teams, you support the coordinated delivery of value-driven outcomes within established frameworks.
As a Project Manager, you will coordinate the delivery of medium-sized projects or defined workstreams.
You work closely with Product Owners, business stakeholders, technical teams, and the PMO to maintain structured control, ensure alignment, and remove blockers. You support decision-making through clear, concise communication and reliable delivery oversight.
As Project Manager, you'll be responsible for:
Delivery Planning & Governance
- Build and maintain core delivery artefacts including project plans, RAID logs, schedules, and status reports
- Apply structured delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) within Softcat's frameworks
- Track milestones and escalate risks, issues, or delays that impact agreed timelines or scope

Risk, Issue & Change Control
- Identify, document, and maintain risks, issues, and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle
- Support mitigation planning and escalate items that fall outside defined thresholds
- Apply change control processes to ensure any scope adjustments are understood, assessed, and agreed
Delivery Facilitation & Support
- Support project meetings, workshops, and structured conversations that clarify scope and delivery
- Provide clear communication to stakeholders, ensuring alignment on progress, blockers, and decisions
- Seek input from Senior PMs or PMO when complexity increases or escalations are required
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies or opportunities within delivery processes
We'd love you to have
- The role mainly involves working with finance stakeholders; finance project experience is preferred
- Experience coordinating or delivering medium IT or business-change initiatives
- Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple activities at pace
- Experience applying structured delivery methods within defined processes and governance
- Ability to identify risks early, communicate potential impacts, and seek appropriate support
- Ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams
