Job Overview
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Please see below for the detailed job description of the role.
Main duties of the job
We are excited to offer an opportunity for an innovative and analytical Project Manager to join our team.
This is a role focused on data and metrics management, analysis and the preparation of reports on the NIHR Southampton Biomedical Research Centre's performance metrics, alongside identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through digital innovation and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality reporting to the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and other stakeholders, turning complex data into insights that inform decision-making.
Working closely with operational, research and senior leadership teams, you will lead initiatives that strengthen performance monitoring, streamline reporting processes and help shape new ways of working through the adoption of AI-enabled tools and solutions.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys combining analytical thinking, project management and innovation to deliver measurable improvements.
Working for our organisation
University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities to support your career aspirations.
Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast.
We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
