Project Manager – Level 1

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Rail team, delivering a portfolio of station enhancement and accessibility projects across the Greater Manchester rail network.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established framework supporting TfGM, managing projects from early-stage design through to construction, commissioning and handover. You'll be responsible for leading either a major station improvement scheme or a number of smaller projects, helping to improve accessibility, passenger experience and rail infrastructure across the region.

Working within an experienced delivery team, you'll collaborate closely with a Senior Project Manager, Commercial Manager, Contractor's Engineering Manager (CEM), Design Manager and Planner to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

What will you be doing?

As Project Manager, you'll take ownership of projects throughout the full lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery against programme, budget, safety and quality objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing rail station improvement and Access for All projects from feasibility and design through to completion and handover.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary design and construction teams across a variety of work packages.
  • Leading project planning, risk management and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Managing project governance and reporting requirements.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with TfGM, rail industry stakeholders and supply chain partners.
  • Supporting commercial and programme performance throughout project delivery.
  • Managing change, risk and opportunity within a live rail environment.
  • Ensuring compliance with rail industry standards, policies and assurance processes.
  • Driving collaborative working across internal teams, designers, subcontractors and clients.
  • Supporting the successful commissioning and handover of completed works.

About You

We're looking for a confident and proactive Project Manager with a strong track record of delivering rail infrastructure projects and building positive client relationships.

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering rail infrastructure projects from design through to construction and handover.
  • Proven track record managing projects within a live operational railway environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Commercial awareness and experience managing project risks, programme and budgets.

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering multidisciplinary Rail projects
  • Experience working for or alongside Train Operating Companies, Network Rail or Transport Authorities.
  • Familiarity with rail engineering terminology, standards and assurance requirements.
  • Professional membership, or working towards membership, of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent.
