The Role
As a Project Manager in our UK Defence function, you will:
- Develop, procure, and integrate systems onto our test and evaluation ranges
- Deploy and deliver trials, training, and operational exercises
Day-to-day, your work will involve:
- Testing, researching, supplying, preparing, and sustaining client platforms and weapon systems for operational use
- Providing test, exercise, modelling, analysis, and laboratory facilities, in safe, realistic, and instrumented environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Development of clear and compelling customer proposals
- Delivery of projects safely and on time, within cost and quality constraints
- Production and maintenance of robust project plans, PPM templates (Programme, Project, and Portfolio Management), resource/cost schedules
- Regular, open, honest, and timely project reporting, aligned with financial requirements
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
Project Manager: Essential Experience
- Track record of successful delivery of projects and programmes within defined cost, timescale, and budget
- Ability to decompose complex issues into manageable steps and resolve methodically
- Direct experience with procurement and tendering processes (e.g., writing specifications, defining supplier criteria, contracting)
- Proficiency in systems engineering discipline

Essential Qualifications
- Industry-recognised qualification (PRIMe PRINCE2®, AMP, or PMP certification)

Role Details & Location
- Work Schedule: 37 hours per week
- Location: Boscombe Down, QinetiQ site (minimum 3 days/week onsite attendance)
- Travel Required: Occasional travel to test sites: Aberporth, West Freugh, and the Hebrides
About Boscombe Down
Giaan MOD facility, Boscombe Down is a unique operational site boasting the UK’s longest military runway. The site delivers test, evaluation, support services for aviation and aerospace systems, renowned for its extensive flight-testing capabilities. Its contributions are pivotal to UK aviation and air superiority, supporting aircraft development, testing, airworthiness, and operational readiness.
Security Clearance Requirement: Applicants for this role must be eligible for SC (Security Check) clearance.
