Volunteer Project Manager
Endometriosis South Coast seeks a Volunteer Project Manager to lead the 'Let's Talk Periods' campaign! Manage a £3,600 budget, direct 8 high-impact community sessions across Portsmouth, Havant & Portchester, partner with local networks, and break down menstrual health stigma.

This role is essential to turning Let's Talk Periods from a funded concept into a real, community-facing campaign. By taking ownership of the day-to-day coordination, the Volunteer Project Manager helps Endometriosis South Coast (ESC) in three major ways:
Drives Direct Community Impact & Breaks Stigma
- Expands Reach Across 4 Target Areas Ensures seamless delivery of 8 community sessions across Portsmouth South, Portsmouth North, Havant, and Portchester, bringing vital education on Endometriosis and Adenomyosis straight into local neighborhoods.
- Engages Underrepresented Audiences Helps normalise conversations around menstrual health specifically among fathers, male carers, and local businesses through tailored formats like Periods & Pints and Business Daytime sessions.
- Empowers Young People Facilitates early recognition of symptoms, reducing the delay in diagnosis for future generations.
Maximises Resources & Budget Efficiency
- Stretches the £3,600 Grant Further With lean, careful budget tracking across shared cost pots (materials, venues, catering), the role ensures every pound raised during the Big Give campaign is spent effectively without cost overruns.
- Frees Up Key Team Members By managing logistics, scheduling, and partner coordination, the role allows facilitator Jodie to focus on high-quality delivery and enables the Founder to focus on strategic growth and leadership.
- Strengthens Local Partnerships Deepens ESC's footprint by connecting and co-hosting with key local networks like Hey Girls, The Parenting Network, and The Secret Life of Dads.
Captures Impact & Secures Future Growth
- Proves Campaign Success By managing opening/closing evaluations and 3-month follow-up surveys, the role gathers crucial data for ESC’s Impact & Assessment Manager.
- Sustains Long-Term Funding Demonstrating clear, measurable outcomes and proper financial reconciliation makes ESC significantly more competitive for future grants and larger-scale project funding.
In short, this role bridges the gap between securing funding and creating real-world change—ensuring no one in the South Coast community has to navigate menstrual health conditions alone.
What are we looking for?
This role reports to the Founder, who oversees the project. Sessions are delivered by Jodie (ESC staff), so you'll work closely together on content and scheduling. You will line-manage the Volunteer's involvement on session days, and work closely with ESC's existing Events team and Partnerships team to coordinate logistics and local relationships. The Community & Outreach Trustee (Beth Prescott) is involved for governance oversight, and you'll liaise with the Safeguarding Lead, Treasurer, and Impact & Assessment Manager as needed.

Person Specification
Essential
- Passion for ESC's mission and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact for people with endometriosis.
- Experience planning and delivering community events, workshops, or educational sessions to budget.
- Comfortable managing a lean budget stretched across multiple sessions, and reconciling spend with a Treasurer.
- Strong coordination skills, able to work effectively with other teams (Events, Partnerships) and with Jodie as facilitator, rather than duplicating their work.
- Able to juggle multiple concurrent locations and bookings without losing track of detail.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles, particularly when sessions involve young people.
- Commitment to upholding ESC's values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Desirable
- Background in public health, education, or community engagement.
- Experience engaging fathers, male carers, or other underrepresented audiences on sensitive topics.
- Familiarity with the South Coast VCSE sector or NHS landscape, particularly Portsmouth and South Hampshire.
- Experience designing simple evaluation tools (surveys, pre/post activities).

Let's Talk Periods is a campaign aimed at dismantling menstrual health stigma, engaging fathers and male carers, and helping young people spot early warning signs of Endometriosis and Adenomyosis. With a secured £3,600 budget, the campaign will deliver eight community sessions over one year.

Role Overview
The Volunteer Project Manager acts as the day-to-day delivery lead, taking the project from funded to fully executed. Over a 1-year window, you will plan and oversee eight sessions across four areas (Portsmouth South, Portsmouth North, Havant, and Portchester). Each area hosts two formats Business Daytime and Periods & Pints (evening). Sessions are facilitated by staff member Jodie, allowing you to focus on management, logistics, budget tracking, and evaluation while collaborating with internal Events and Partnerships teams under the Founder's direction.
Duties & Responsibilities
Session Planning & Design
- Schedule all 8 sessions across the 4 locations.
- Co-develop engaging content with Jodie and manage a shared £700 materials budget to design structured, time-boxed sessions.
Events & Partnerships Coordination
- Work with the Events team to book venues within budget (£500 venue hire, £450 catering, £350 photography).
- Collaborate with the Partnerships team to secure in-kind daytime host venues and manage guest speaker logistics (£500 budget).
Hey Girls Partnership & Fundraising
- Source Pads for Dads resources, run on-the-day fundraising collections, and reconcile the 60/40 (ESC/Hey Girls) donation split with the Treasurer.
Proposed Collaborations
- Reach out to The Secret Life of Dads (@thesecretlifeofdads) for potential co-hosting, and work with The Parenting Network to explore co-promotion through Dadzclub and Family Hubs.
- Faith Community Engagement Support leadership in exploring places of worship as daytime venues, adapting session framing as advised, and consulting Safeguarding before booking.
Budget Management
- Monitor line-item spending against the £3,600 budget across the year, reconcile post-session costs with the Treasurer, and provide early warnings on overspend risks.
On-the-Day Delivery & Evaluation
- Brief volunteers on event protocols, ensure sessions are inclusive and accessible, run baseline and closing evaluation activities, manage 3-month follow-up surveys, and share data with the Impact & Assessment Manager.
Reporting & Safeguarding
- Provide regular progress updates to the Founder and Community & Outreach Trustee, ensuring all events adhere strictly to ESC’s safeguarding policy and code of conduct.
