Project Manager Opportunity
Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in housing, lettings, voids or operational transformation?
We’re working with a leading housing organisation to appoint a Non-Core Transitions Project Manager on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a high-profile role focused on transitioning a substantial portfolio of non-core properties into a new operating model, while improving processes, governance, performance and income generation.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a significant transition programme and work closely with senior stakeholders across Operations, Finance, Governance, IT and Housing.
The Role
You’ll lead the transition of a portfolio of approximately 3,500 PRS/non-core properties, ensuring the transfer is well planned, controlled and delivered with minimal disruption to customers and ongoing services.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Leading the end-to-end transition and implementation programme, from planning through to delivery.
- Mapping and improving existing lettings, voids and operational processes.
- Establishing effective governance, reporting, controls and performance measures.
- Identifying and managing risks, issues, dependencies and key milestones.
- Working closely with senior stakeholders across housing, operations, finance, technology and governance.
- Developing business cases, governance papers and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Identifying opportunities to improve income generation, void performance and portfolio utilisation.
- Supporting tenure conversion and other strategic initiatives.
- Improving systems, data and digital processes across lettings and empty homes.
- Ensuring contractual, regulatory and internal compliance requirements are embedded.
- Developing clear customer and stakeholder communication throughout the transition.
- Tracking benefits and ensuring improvements are embedded into business-as-usual services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

A PRINCE2, APM, Agile PM, MSP or similar qualification would be advantageous, alongside a housing qualification, but relevant experience is equally important.
Why Apply?
This is more than a standard Project Manager position. You’ll be given ownership of a high-profile housing transition programme, with the opportunity to influence how services are structured, improve customer journeys and deliver measurable operational and financial benefits.
If you’re a housing professional who enjoys change, transformation, problem-solving and getting complex projects delivered, this could be an excellent opportunity to make a visible impact over a 12-month period.
