Job Summary

The Agent/Project Manager (Facade) is responsible for leading packages to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost, and quality requirements. Guides and coordinates with all relevant parties to understand and deliver project objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs), providing day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team.

Project: Global Switch London South (LONS) 5-story, 40MW data center.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support and report to the Senior Project Manager & Project Package Lead in all the elements related to the construction, programme of works, and commercial issues of the works.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination between the construction, design, procurement, and commercial departments to ensure the sub-contractors can progress work on site in accordance with the schedule of works.
  • Manages parts of projects independently.
  • Monitors project timeframes and budgets, ensuring managing diligently and to the successful delivery of project management, highlighting any risks, challenges, and mitigations.
  • Prepares and modifies where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s.
  • To ensure that client requirements are met, ensuring that all quality, assurance, and compliance documentation is provided in a timely manner, collaborating with relevant parties/stakeholders.
  • Ensuring works are monitored to achieve right first-time workmanship and undertaking lessons learnt reviews to promote continuous improvement, while maintaining daily records.
  • To support the construction team with the technical and engineering aspects of the works, in particular method statements, ITPs (Inspection Test Plan), construction process, engineering specifications, set out and measurement and quality control, certificate and compliance.
  • To closely monitor the progress of the package works, reporting on actual cost, forecast, and highlighting any problems and issues for resolution to the Project Package Lead.
  • To develop and manage readiness planning for commencing works including ensuring all permits are in place before commencing activities.
  • Determines and arranges project management, technical services, and external resources required for the project.
  • Oversees package timeframes and budgets, ensuring successful delivery of projects, highlighting any risks, challenges, and mitigations.
  • Leads and records relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis.
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management and mitigation treatments.
  • Documents and takes ownership of project changes as and when necessary, tracking project changes and ensuring they are processed and formalised within the agreed timeframes.
  • To assist a high performing team through the setting of clear SMART targets via the team plan and complying with the performance management process for all team members.
  • Responsible for ensuring approved handover documentation is coordinated and provided prior to practical completion.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

Project Specific

  • Lead the Facade package through design development, delivery, and handover, encompassing roof finishes and all interfacing details.
  • Drive design coordination and design detailing for the façade and roof packages, proactively identifying and resolving design interfaces.
  • Coordinate and interface with concurrent trades to hit strict handover milestones for follow-on packages at the London South Data Centre.
  • Manage and mentor the sub-agent supporting the delivery of the London South façade and roof package.
  • Support and lead specific interfacing logistic packages throughout the design development of the Façade and Roof Package.

Technical Skills And Competencies

  • Proven communication, presentation, and project planning and development skills.
  • Proven understanding of project management methodologies and practices.
  • Display strong communication and negotiation skills to support the client/customer focus.
  • Manage internal budgets and fees, delivering agreed outcomes (where appropriate).
  • Understand construction methodologies and sequencing.
  • To promote and champion DFMA (Design for Manufacture and Assemble) and off-site fabrication where possible.
  • Knowledge in Health and Safety Executive (HSE) (or local equivalent) rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio.
  • Partners with others providing day to day project leadership to achieve deliverables.
  • Manages teams providing guidance, direction, and coordination.
  • Mentors and develops the project team sharing knowledge and experience; provides a safe work environment to learn and mature.
  • To promote, champion, and implement all best practice, safety management, and safety initiatives across all aspects of design and site delivery, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment is achieved for all.

Qualifications, Certifications And Experience

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Construction Manager, or equivalent professional accreditation desirable.
  • Experience in Façade Design and Construction
  • Experience in roof design and construction.
  • Proven experience leading projects through both tendering and delivery phases.
  • Experience on major UK infrastructure projects such as Data centres.
  • SMSTS certification.
  • CSCS white Card or equivalent.
  • Temporary Works training desirable.
  • Relevant Project Management Experience
  • Knowledge of UK CDM and Building Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Curtain walling, rainscreen cladding, and glazing installation.
