Our client is looking for a Civil Engineer / Project Manager with experience in the Marine sector.

Location: Sittingbourne, Kent

Salary: Competitive + Benefits

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

The Opportunity:

Our client is a highly respected, family-run marine construction business based in Kent, delivering specialist marine and waterfront infrastructure projects across the UK. Due to a planned retirement within the team, they are seeking an experienced Marine Civil Engineer, Project Manager or Project Engineer to join the business and play a key role in the successful delivery of marine civil engineering projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to combine office-based project management responsibilities with hands-on involvement in challenging and rewarding marine environments. The business offers a supportive culture, flexible working arrangements and exposure to a diverse portfolio of specialist marine works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee marine civil engineering projects from tender through to completion.
  • Coordinate site activities, subcontractors, plant and resources.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely on time and within budget.
  • Prepare and review project programmes, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, regulatory bodies and project stakeholders.
  • Provide technical engineering support across marine construction activities.
  • Monitor project performance and report on progress, costs and programme.
  • Support the delivery of complex marine operations and lifting activities.
  • Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate experience within marine construction environments and are comfortable working around specialist marine plant and equipment.

Applicants will ideally possess either:

  • A Civil Engineering degree (or similar relevant qualification) with a minimum of 5 years' marine engineering/project delivery experience; OR
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience in a Site Manager, Project Manager or similar role, gained within marine or heavy civil engineering projects.

  • Jack-Up Barges (JUBs)
  • Pontoons
  • Complex lifting operations
  • Barges and marine plant
  • Temporary works and marine logistics

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • SMSTS
  • CSCS Card
  • First Aid at Work
  • Temporary Works Coordinator
  • Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) certification
