We are seeking an experienced Project Manager (Mechanical Bias) to join our team and help deliver a seamless service for our clients and operational teams.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of a wide range of projects across our portfolio, including electrical installations, mechanical systems upgrades, building fabric works, refurbishments, compliance projects, asset replacement programmes, and minor capital works, with project values ranging from £25,000 to £3 million.

While the role has a mechanical bias, the successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of electrical installations and building fabric construction, enabling them to effectively manage multidisciplinary projects from inception through to completion, including feasibility, design development, procurement, construction, commissioning, handover, and project close-out.

The role will also require the management and coordination of design reviews both internally and with clients, ensuring that project solutions are technically compliant, commercially viable, and aligned with client requirements prior to construction works commencing.

The Project Manager Shall

  • Undertake the management of all site staff relating to projects under your control.
  • Drive planning of project.
  • Attend preconstruction site visits with the client, commercial team and supply chain.
  • Liaise with clients, design teams, and other stakeholders to develop project scopes, technical solutions, and delivery plans.
  • Manage and control all project resources.
  • Be responsible for the overall management of the project/s.
  • Ensure all Company Procedures are being complied with.
  • Ensure all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Procedures are followed.
  • Be responsible for achieving high standards of quality and workmanship on site.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the project are effectively monitored and controlled.
  • Deliver project within programme and budget.
  • Ensure adherence to site specific project protocol and procedures.
  • Manage and monitor subcontractors.
  • Communicate effectively with the project management team.
  • Attend and chair regular project progress meetings and compile progress reports for presentation to the Client.
  • Prepare and manage project documentation, including RAMS, cost reports, risk registers, and programme updates.
  • Attend and chair regular sub-contractor meetings as required.
  • Compile and distribute project meeting minutes.
  • Maintain contractual records of all project related matters (Cemar).
  • Attend and provide input on regular contract meetings with the Client.
  • Introduce improvements and innovations where appropriate.
  • Positively promote the company wherever and whenever possible.
  • Compile and submit O&M manuals upon project completion.

This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the job title and the range of duties to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

About You

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrate previous experience in a Project Management role.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and management skills.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in construction design management (CDM).
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, heating, etc.).
  • Experience in the delivery of commercial projects up to a value of £3mil.
  • Experience in running, chairing, and reviewing design meetings and designs.
  • Ability to manage and deliver numerous concurrent projects of varying financial values and scope.
  • Knowledge/understanding of NEC 4 contracts (preferable).
  • Ability to plan and programme projects using MS Project (displaying slippage and float).
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent presentation skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Engineering Technician (EngTech) status through institutions such as the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) or Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
  • Knowledge and understanding of 18th edition wiring regulations.
  • High voltage and low voltage awareness.
  • Knowledge of UK building regulations.
  • Ability to manage time and workload.
  • ECS Health & Safety Qualified.
  • SMSTS certificate.
  • NVQ level 6 and black managers card.
