Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a Mechanical Engineering background to lead the safe, compliant, and commercially successful delivery of engineering projects across the water, utilities, and infrastructure sectors.
You will take full responsibility for projects from contract award through to commissioning and handover, ensuring delivery against programme, budget, quality, and safety objectives while managing client relationships and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects through the full lifecycle from pre-construction to final handover.
- Develop and manage project programmes, budgets, resources, and delivery plans.
- Coordinate engineering, commercial, procurement, site, commissioning, and HSEQ teams.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Manage project risks, opportunities, changes, and performance against KPIs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, variations, and commercial performance.
- Lead project meetings, reporting, and progress reviews.
- Support tender, planning, and mobilisation activities where required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

Requirements

- Mechanical Engineering qualification or strong Mechanical Engineering background.
- Proven experience delivering engineering, infrastructure, utilities, or construction projects.
- Demonstrable track record of managing projects from inception through to completion.
- Strong commercial awareness, including cost control, forecasting, and change management.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Good understanding of construction health & safety requirements.
- Experience within the Water, Utilities, Industrial, or Infrastructure sectors.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts.
- APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent Project Management qualification.
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- Experience using Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Experience working within design-and-build or self-delivery environments.
