We are working with an established construction contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to take responsibility for the delivery of a major modular build scheme in Portsmouth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager with a strong construction background who is looking to take ownership of a technically interesting project, working closely with the client, design team, supply chain and site-based teams to ensure the project is delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will have overall responsibility for managing the project from pre-construction through to completion, with a particular focus on the coordination and delivery of the modular/off-site construction elements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Taking overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the project.
- Managing programme, costs, quality, health & safety and client expectations.
- Coordinating modular manufacturing, logistics, deliveries and on-site installation.
- Working closely with the design team to ensure designs are coordinated and buildable.
- Managing subcontractors, suppliers and specialist modular contractors.
- Monitoring progress against the construction programme and implementing recovery plans where required.
- Leading regular progress meetings with the client, consultants and supply chain.
- Managing commercial and contractual matters in conjunction with the commercial team.
- Ensuring all works are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation, specifications and quality standards.
- Identifying and managing project risks, opportunities and potential delays.
- Leading and supporting the site management team.
- Managing commissioning, handover and completion of the project.

About You
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering construction projects, ideally with experience of modular, MMC, off-site or volumetric construction.

You will ideally have:
- Proven experience working as a Project Manager within the construction sector.
- Experience delivering projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Previous modular/MMC or off-site construction experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, programmes and project controls.
- Experience managing subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project costs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and project delivery.
- Relevant construction qualifications, such as CSCS, SMSTS and/or a recognised construction/project management qualification.
