Role Profile

My client is one of the world’s leading providers of specialised subsea pipeline protection systems within the Oil & Gas and Marine Civils industries. Working for my client, the Project Managers play a crucial role in the Project steam, ensuring the successful delivery of projects from inception to completion. Combining project and people management, this role includes overseeing project execution, maintaining client relationships, and driving the continuous improvement of project processes. Our project managers are highly motivated, organised, and personable individuals, who possess a proactive approach in their work. Part of this role may require travel to manufacturing sites across the UK and internationally.

Role Duties

The role duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

Project Management & Execution

  • Full-cycle project management, including planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery within budget and on schedule.
  • Serve as the project primary point of contact for clients, managing all commercial, contractual, and technical deliverables.
  • Assume accountability and authority for all project execution phases drawing upon the support and coordination of internal group stakeholders such as engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, QHSE and production.
  • Take a proactive approach to problem solving, utilising the knowledge of the wider team where required.
  • Ensure all customer project documentation is in line with agreed document registers and milestone dates.
  • Prepare internal and Customer weekly / monthly reports to update senior management and Customers, escalating high level issues where necessary.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent project communication.
  • Engage in strategic discussions with senior leadership to align projects with broader organizational goals.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly/monthly reports to update clients and senior management on project status risks, and achievements.

Risk & Financial Management

  • Set and monitor project budgets, managing cost, revenue, and cash flow in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks through proactive risk management and contingency planning.
  • Involvement in regular assessments to ensure financial performance meets or exceeds project targets, supporting margin improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for margin improvement through cost out initiatives and customer variation order process where appropriate.

Continuous Improvement & Strategic Development

  • Engage in process improvement initiatives within the Projects department, fostering innovation and efficiency.
  • Collaborate on company-wide initiatives to improve project delivery and operational performance.
  • Support tendering and sales handover processes, ensuring smooth transitions and alignment with client expectations.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Champion clients commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement across all project activities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including QHSE standards.
  • Engage in a culture of accountability and best practices, maintaining the clients reputation for excellence in project delivery.

General

  • Perform all duties in compliance with existing legislation and company rules and procedures.
  • All other duties as required by the Executive management of the business.
  • Uphold and ‘live’ the company – Work Together, Do Things Right, Break the Boundaries.
  • Ensure compliance with and actively promote the Company’s procedures and policies.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in relevant technical subject.
  • Professional Project Management qualification such as APM, or Prince 2.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Project Management.
  • Experience in all aspects of general Project Management gained through delivery of projects acting as main Project Manager.
  • Strong background in the offshore wind/oil& gas/construction industries.
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplined project teams from project inception through to completion, covering key areas of tendering, engineering, supply chain, manufacture, commissioning, and offshore service.
  • Knowledge and experience of the challenges and complexities of delivering projects within Subsea, Renewable Offshore environment or Marine Civils. Subsea technical knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong commercial, contractual and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • QHSE emphasis and continuous improvement focused.
  • Experience in multi-tasking across multiple live projects, while managing tight deadlines.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
