Role Description

Reporting to the Operations Manager, AMP Procurement require a project manager to take charge of a number of projects with a large variation ranging from low value (£5K) simple projects lasting a few weeks, up to large (£1M+) complex projects lasting several years.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves taking ownership of projects through their full lifecycle.

  • Manage projects through an end-to-end project life cycle
  • Monitor overall project progress, resolving risks and issues and initiating corrective action plans.
  • Act as the central point of liaison and coordination with all stakeholders throughout the project life cycle. This includes liaising with the customer on all aspect of the project, keeping management informed on progress, planning project lifecycle with design department and manufacturing and ensuring all stakeholders are aware of the project status at all times.
  • Planning and organising the resource required to execute assigned projects.
  • Deliver on time, on budget, on quality Project Management.
  • Ensure best-practice technical, logistical and commercial direction is always in place for project delivery. This includes taking ownership of budgetary constraints through project planning.
  • Perceive problems well in advance and consider the broad range of commercial and technical factors in assessing the situation, identifying possible solutions and implementing approved solutions.
  • Take ownership of technical documentation required to successfully deliver the project, including project plans/Gantt charts, action trackers, management plans, manuals and any other technical authoring as required.
  • Provide support to other projects where required.
  • Support continuous improvement of internal procedures, especially in project management.

Skills, knowledge and experience

The ideal candidate will have the following key skills and experience:

  • Must be capable of motivating the project support team to achieve project success.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator at all levels to negotiate best outcomes internally and with customers.
  • Must have high levels of competence in Project Management, including effective utilisation of resource teams.
  • Demonstrable ability to prioritise and differentiate projects tasks and sales support requests within a complex and conflicting environment.
  • Experience in a similar role, having also performed at lower levels in technical project delivery role on which this role builds upon.
  • A qualification in Project Management is required.
  • A formal Project management qualification such as PMI, PRINCE2 or similar is an advantage.
  • Previous Project Management experience is essential.
  • Must be capable of occasionally working outside normal working hours to meet customer project requests as required. Also, must be available for occasional site/customer visits as needed.
  • Fluent in English, and proficient in MS Office and MS Project.
  • UK driver’s licence.
  • Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete DBS and BPSS security checks.

Located in Glasgow, AMP Procurement Limited are a leading independent procurement and manufacturing supplier to various, Defence, Marine, Power primes.

The Package

Position is full-time, based in Glasgow. Salary negotiable depending on experience, 4.5-day week (37.5 hours) with the option for some home working, 28 days holiday, free parking, company bonus and pension scheme.
