The Role
As a Project Manager within the Minor Works Team, you will lead the delivery of a varied portfolio of capital projects across the University estate, taking responsibility from initial planning and development through to successful completion.
Acting as the University’s client representative, you will manage multiple projects and workstreams, coordinating consultants, contractors, stakeholders, priorities and risks to ensure delivery against agreed scope, programme, budget and quality requirements.
You will work closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the University, providing effective project leadership, maintaining strong project controls and ensuring emerging risks and issues are managed or escalated appropriately through established governance arrangements.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Act as the University’s client representative, leading assigned capital projects from feasibility and planning through to successful completion and handover.
- Manage multiple projects and workstreams, coordinating priorities, dependencies, risks, programme and budget to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Maintain effective project governance and controls, including programmes, budgets, forecasts, risk registers, change control and performance reporting.
- Lead and coordinate consultants and contractors, supporting procurement and appointments and actively managing external team performance throughout delivery.
- Build effective relationships with project sponsors and stakeholders, providing clear advice on delivery options, risks, programme and budget and escalating key issues where required.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly and sustainably, meeting relevant legislation, CDM and Building Regulations, University requirements and sustainability objectives.

About You
- Degree and/or relevant professional qualification in construction, engineering, surveying, architecture or project management.
- Experience managing capital, infrastructure, refurbishment or construction projects within a complex organisational environment.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects or workstreams, coordinating priorities, dependencies, risks and delivery activity.
- Strong understanding of project management and delivery, including procurement, contracts, budgets, forecasting, risk, governance and reporting.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
