The WSP Pavement Engineering Team

The WSP Pavement Engineering team is seeking a Project Manager to be part of this established and experienced team working on exciting large-scale projects. Due to recent successes, the team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate seeking new and exciting opportunities.

Your Role

The successful candidate will form part of an existing team to project manage pavement design and maintenance projects for a number of clients both in the UK and overseas. You will assist the engineering team in the role of a Project Manager to deliver projects through various stages of design from feasibility / option studies to detailed design and onto construction. You will support the discipline leads to ensure that projects are delivered safely to a high-quality, in a timely manner, and compliant with budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the pavement engineering team discipline leads to deliver client expectations.
  • Coordinate project meetings and target-led workshops, helping to resolve critical issues in a timely manner.
  • Establish robust processes and procedures to manage the project, in conjunction with the client’s team.
  • Act as primary point of contact for the client, ensuring their needs and expectations are met through both the design and construction phases.
  • Compile monthly project reports to provide senior managers clarity of project position.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, presentations, and progress reports.
  • Manage contracts in accordance with contract rules of engagement (including NEC3 & 4).
  • Manage project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Manage project changes and delays, ensuring these are resolved or mitigated accordingly e.g. change control.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, ensuring effective collaboration between pavement, drainage, structures, geotechnical, environmental, and traffic disciplines.
  • Support commercial management activities, including Early Warnings, Compensation Events, change control, forecasting, and budget management.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with client, project team, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, health and safety requirements, client standards, and relevant industry specifications.
  • Prepare, maintain, and monitor project programmes, using either MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar software.

What We Are Looking For

Required Experience:

  • Working experience of managing NEC3/4 contracts.
  • Experience working on significant projects with demonstrable client-side project delivery (design and build).
  • Experience working with organizations such as National Highways, TfL, and other highways clients is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to manage successful workstreams within a multi-disciplinary delivery team.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and competence in using Oracle Cloud Application and CEMAR (Contract Management and Reporting Software) is advantageous.
