Project Manager

DG8 Design & Engineering is a specialist design and engineering company based in Derby, UK, and part of Icomera UK Ltd within the global Equans group. Our creative and versatile team delivers high-quality, design-led solutions for the rail transport sector, supporting projects from initial concept through to full implementation.

We combine industrial design expertise with mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering capabilities to develop bespoke interior products, integrate complex systems, and ensure full compliance across the rail vehicle supply chain. Our work enhances both passenger experience and operational performance across the industry.

About the Role:

As a Project Manager within DG8, you will be responsible for managing project activities to ensure customer and business requirements are delivered successfully, safely, and efficiently. You will oversee the delivery of projects from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, legal requirements, quality expectations, and commercial objectives.

Working closely with customers, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams, you will coordinate resources, manage project risks, and ensure successful project outcomes within agreed timescales and budgets. You will also play an important role in supporting business development activities and promoting DG8’s capabilities across the rail industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the delivery of assigned projects, ensuring customer requirements and business objectives are achieved.
  • Take responsibility for the technical and commercial delivery of projects within agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Coordinate resources and project activities to support successful project execution.
  • Ensure all project outputs comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, safety requirements, and company procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver project documentation, reports, presentations, and other project-related outputs as required.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress, proactively managing risks, issues, and changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support business development activities by promoting DG8’s services and capabilities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and best practices across project delivery.

About You:

You are an organised and proactive Project Manager with experience delivering engineering or technical projects. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing customer expectations, commercial objectives, and delivery requirements while building strong relationships with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Experience delivering engineering or technical projects from initiation through to completion.
  • A good understanding of project planning, resource management, risk management, and commercial delivery.
  • Knowledge of the UK rail industry, associated standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • An engineering, technical, or project management qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative approach with the confidence to lead project teams and engage directly with customers.
  • Experience delivering rolling stock or rail vehicle projects.
