About The Role
We are seeking a Freelance Project Manager to oversee the construction and fit-out of a new retail store in Manchester city centre.
This is a site-based role, requiring you to be on site Monday to Friday, managing the project from start to completion. The successful candidate will coordinate contractors, monitor progress, ensure quality standards are met, and keep the project on programme.
This opportunity would suit a freelance construction professional looking for a 6–9 month contract, with an immediate start.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the retail fit-out project. Having an SMSTS card would be very helpful.
- Be present on-site Monday to Friday throughout the construction programme.
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers and trades to ensure work is completed safely, on time and to a high standard with the support of the project Director.
- Monitor project progress against programme and resolve issues as they arise.
- Ensure works comply with health and safety requirements and company procedures.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and other stakeholders, providing regular progress updates.
- Maintain site records and project documentation.
- Drive quality, programme and cost performance throughout the project.

Essential Requirements
- Some experience as a Project Manager within the building or construction industry.
- Good technical knowledge of construction methods and site management.
- Ability to commute to Manchester city centre on a daily basis (Monday to Friday) – this is an essential requirement.
- Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple contractors and maintain high standards of workmanship.

- Experience managing retail fit-out or shopfitting projects.
- Relevant building or construction qualifications.
- SMSTS, SSSTS or other recognised construction management qualifications are desirable.
- Health and safety training will be provided where required.

Salary based on a £4200 Calander monthly payment on a monthly rolling contract with a possible 6 to 9 months role. Based on a 40hr week and working 5 out of 7 days per week.
