Project Manager - Transaction Monitoring Model Validation & Model Management Lead

Remote - UK

£700-750p/d

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager oversee the governance, validation, prioritisation and remediation of Transaction Monitoring (TM) models within a complex Financial Crime environment. This role sits at the intersection of Financial Crime, Model Risk Management, Operations and Technology, ensuring models remain effective, compliant and aligned to regulatory expectations.

The successful consultant will lead the end-to-end model management roadmap, driving validation activities, coordinating regulatory commitments and ensuring appropriate governance across the model lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the Transaction Monitoring model management roadmap, translating financial crime strategy, regulatory requirements and business priorities into a clear delivery plan.
  • Drive model prioritisation activities, balancing regulatory commitments, model risk, validation findings, operational impact and resource capacity.
  • Coordinate model validation activities across multiple TM models, ensuring findings, recommendations, assumptions, limitations and risks are appropriately documented and managed.
  • Work closely with Model Owners, Financial Crime SMEs, Technology teams and Capability Leads to support model development, implementation, validation and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Partner with Model Risk Management and governance stakeholders to ensure validation requirements are clearly defined and successfully delivered.
  • Track and drive remediation of validation findings, audit actions, regulatory commitments and risk acceptance items through to closure.
  • Establish effective governance forums, reporting and stakeholder communications to provide visibility of key decisions, risks, dependencies and progress.
  • Maintain oversight of the full model lifecycle, including design, implementation, validation, approval, ongoing monitoring, change management, periodic reviews and decommissioning.
  • Support delivery across multiple Transaction Monitoring initiatives, ensuring alignment of priorities, dependencies and compliance obligations.
  • Use model performance data, risk insights, regulatory feedback and validation outcomes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Represent Transaction Monitoring model activities within governance and prioritisation forums, ensuring focus remains on the highest-risk and highest-priority matters.

  • Proven Project Manager, Programme Manager or Model Governance Lead experience within Financial Services.
  • Strong understanding of Transaction Monitoring, Financial Crime, AML and Fraud Risk Management.
  • Experience managing model validation, model governance, model risk remediation or related regulatory programmes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across Risk, Compliance, Financial Crime, Operations, Data and Technology functions.
  • Experience tracking and managing regulatory commitments, audit actions and remediation plans.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels, including senior leadership and governance committees.
  • Experience delivering within highly regulated banking or financial services environments.
  • Excellent planning, reporting and governance management capabilities.
