Senior Project Manager - Transformation & Change
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a local authority’s Transformation and Change team.
This is a senior role leading the planning and delivery of high-value, complex transformation projects and programmes, working closely with senior leaders, service areas and external partners to deliver meaningful service improvements, efficiencies and financial savings.
The Role
As Senior Project Manager, you will take ownership of complex projects from conception through to completion, providing strong leadership and ensuring delivery to agreed time, cost, quality and benefits.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading complex transformation and change projects and programmes across multiple services and stakeholders.
- Developing project plans, business cases, project documentation and benefits realisation plans.
- Managing project budgets, resources, risks, issues, dependencies and changes.
- Working closely with senior stakeholders, project sponsors, governance boards and external suppliers.
- Providing clear progress reporting and recommendations to senior management.
- Leading project teams and line managing Project Managers and Project Management Assistants.
- Matrix managing internal and external project resources where required.
- Identifying opportunities for service improvement, efficiencies and recurrent savings.
- Challenging existing processes and developing practical, evidence-based solutions.
- Supporting the successful implementation and adoption of organisational change.
- Coaching and mentoring less experienced project management colleagues.
- Ensuring projects follow appropriate project and programme management methodologies and governance standards.

About You
You will have significant experience delivering complex projects or programmes, ideally within a transformation, change or corporate environment.
You should have:
- Proven experience managing high-complexity projects from conception through to completion.
- Strong project and programme management knowledge, with experience using structured methodologies such as PRINCE2, Agile or similar.
- Experience managing project teams and working with senior stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of risk, issue, budget, resource and benefits management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to interpret complex information and turn it into clear plans, reports and recommendations.
- Experience developing business cases and options appraisals.
- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- A degree, equivalent qualification or significant relevant professional experience.
- A formal project/transformation qualification such as PRINCE2, MSP or APM would be advantageous.
