Job Title: Project Manager (Maternity Cover)
Type: Part-time, fixed-term contract for 10 months
Working Pattern: Approximately 24 hours per week, with flexibility over how these hours are worked
Location: Hybrid working, primarily remote, with occasional client meetings in London and monthly in-person team days
Salary: £27,000–£30,000 per annum, depending on experience, based on 24 hours per week
Start Date: Early November 2026
Role Overview
We are looking for an organised and proactive Project Manager to support the delivery of client projects during a period of maternity cover. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring assigned projects, ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget and to the expected standard. This will include maintaining strong client relationships, coordinating internal teams and external contractors, tracking progress, managing risks and ensuring clear communication throughout the project lifecycle. This is a part-time role suited to someone who is confident managing several small to medium-sized projects at the same time. The role will involve working closely with clients, colleagues, contractors and suppliers to keep projects moving and ensure successful delivery.
Working Arrangements
This is a part-time role of approximately 24 hours per week. Toro is open to discussing a working pattern that works for both the successful candidate and the needs of the role. The agreed working pattern should provide enough continuity across the week to ensure projects and client queries are managed effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage assigned projects from initiation through to completion.
- Agree project scope, objectives, timelines and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules and priorities.
- Monitor progress against key deadlines, budgets and agreed outcomes.
- Maintain clear and proportionate project documentation.
- Coordinate project meetings and follow up agreed actions.
- Support the effective closure and handover of completed projects.
- Support project profitability through effective planning, resource coordination and budget monitoring.

Client and Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the main day-to-day contact for clients on assigned projects.
- Build positive working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate internal teams, contractors and suppliers.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, upcoming activity and decisions required.
- Ensure client queries and concerns are responded to promptly and professionally.
Resource and Delivery Coordination
- Confirm project resource requirements and coordinate availability across internal teams and external contractors.
- Ensure project teams have the information and documentation needed to complete their work.
- Manage competing priorities across the assigned project portfolio.
Risk and Issue Management
- Identify and record project risks, issues and dependencies.
- Agree appropriate actions with the project team.
- Monitor actions and escalate significant risks, delays or blockers where required.
Budget and Financial Monitoring
- Monitor project budgets, costs and time spent.
- Maintain accurate project forecasts.
- Provide project information to support client invoicing.
Reporting and Administration
- Produce clear and concise project status updates and client reports.
- Keep project systems, trackers and records up to date.
- Support the review and quality assurance process for client deliverables.
- Maintain meeting notes, action logs, risk registers and project plans.
- Support project reviews and lessons learned, identifying practical improvements to processes and templates.

Skills and Experience
Essential
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience managing client projects and delivering work to agreed timelines, budgets and quality standards.
- Eligibility for Security Clearance and willingness to undergo the required vetting process.
- Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams at the same time.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong client, stakeholder and relationship-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to coordinate internal teams, contractors and suppliers to achieve project objectives.
- Confidence using project-management, collaboration and Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams, Outlook, Excel and Word.
- The ability to work independently, identify risks and issues and escalate matters appropriately.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach and the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how effective project delivery supports business performance and client outcomes.
Desirable
It would be beneficial for the successful candidate to have:
- Experience working within a consultancy, professional-services, technology, security, risk-management or public-sector organisation.
- Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, to improve efficiency, organisation and project delivery.
- A recognised project-management qualification, such as PRINCE2, APM or AgilePM.
