Senior Project Manager – Defence / Combat Air
Location: Bristol or Stevenage
Salary: £50,000 – £56,000
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2–3 days per week on-site
Sector: Defence / Aerospace / Combat Air
Clearance: SC eligibility required
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager to join one of the most ambitious and strategically important programmes currently taking place within the UK defence and aerospace sector.
This is a bid-focused Project Management position, working at the intersection of project delivery, engineering, commercial strategy, and business development. You’ll play a key role in developing compelling, deliverable, and commercially viable propositions that support future defence capability.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and coordinate multiple technical bids and business-winning activities across a complex defence portfolio.
- Develop and deliver Product Business Cases to support successful bidding campaigns.
- Work closely with Engineering, Technical, Finance, Programmes, Sales, and Business Development teams.
- Manage competing priorities and optimise a portfolio of current and future bids.
- Contribute to product roadmaps, investment strategies, and long-term business plans.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and international partners.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex problems within demanding timescales.
- Champion effective bid management and business-winning practices.
- Respond to changing customer requirements and operate effectively in an ambiguous environment.

What We're Looking For
We're interested in Project Managers with experience in complex, technical, or engineering-led environments, particularly those with exposure to defence, aerospace, or other highly regulated sectors.
You'll ideally have:
- Strong Project Management experience.
- Experience managing or contributing to technical bids / proposals.
- Experience across contract acquisition, business delivery, or commercial project environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- The ability to develop solutions to complex problems under tight deadlines.
- Strong commercial and business judgement.
- Experience working across multiple functions and competing priorities.
- Ideally, knowledge or experience within the Defence / Aerospace sector.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
