About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a specialist engineering and manufacturing business based in Huddersfield. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they meet specified timelines, budgets, quality standards, and safety regulations. You will take full ownership of project delivery, coordinate cross-functional teams, and maintain strong communication channels with clients and stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex engineering projects, demonstrating leadership, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic environment where your expertise can significantly impact project success and company growth.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of project management experience within an engineering or manufacturing setting. A relevant technical qualification such as HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification is required, with a degree level qualification considered advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong commercial awareness, including experience in contract management, negotiation, and financial forecasting. Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project is essential. Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills are critical for effectively managing teams and stakeholder relationships. A track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget is necessary to succeed in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all project commercial aspects, including cost forecasting, invoicing, and achieving turnover and profit targets.
  • Oversee all project phases—from design and procurement to fabrication, assembly, installation, and commissioning—ensuring smooth progression and successful customer handover.
  • Lead project review meetings, approve contract variations, and control expenditure within approved budgets.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, commercial, and business risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and identifying opportunities for additional work.
  • Produce comprehensive monthly project performance reports and a final project closure report highlighting key learnings and areas for improvement.
  • Manage project resources effectively, foster a culture of teamwork, and promote continuous improvement initiatives across the project team.

Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary ranging from 50,000 to 60,000 plus performance-based bonuses. The company offers a working week of 38.75 hours, with core hours from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, and an early finish on Fridays at 1:45 pm, subject to meeting weekly hours. Additional benefits include 24 days of holiday entitlement plus bank holidays, which increase with length of service, a 9% pension contribution, and various other employee benefits designed to support work-life balance and professional development.
