The Role

HB Tunnelling is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of shaft and tunnel works in the Greater Southampton Area.

Long Term Works On AMP 8 for Southern Water.

We are a specialist tunnelling contractor with our own experienced delivery teams, plant and equipment. The successful candidate will take a hands-on role in planning and managing our self-delivered works, working closely with site teams to keep projects safe and moving to programme.

Responsibilities

  • Manage shaft construction and tunnelling works from mobilisation through to handover.
  • Plan labour, plant, materials and equipment for our direct delivery teams.
  • Develop and manage construction programmes and short-term lookaheads.
  • Monitor progress, productivity, costs, quality and safety on site.
  • Identify and resolve technical and operational issues with the site team.
  • Maintain effective relationships with the client, designers and other stakeholders.
  • Keep project records, reporting and commercial information up to date.

About You

You will have proven experience in the water sector and civil engineering works. You should be comfortable leading site teams, planning resources and taking practical decisions on live projects. Strong safety leadership and clear communication are essential. Experience of NEC contracts and water sector work would be an advantage.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong business acumen in project planning and management
  • Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills
  • SMSTS
  • Desirable - TWC, Confined Spaces, First Aid
