Building Sustainable Infrastructure for the Future

Bethell Construction is a leading civil engineering and utility services group, continuing to grow through long-term partnerships and framework agreements across the North West. As part of our continued success within the Water Sector, we are looking to recruit experienced Project Managers to join our team delivering essential infrastructure projects across Greater Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for motivated and driven professionals to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects, working collaboratively with clients, design teams, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient and successful project delivery.

The Role

As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of civil engineering projects within the water sector, ensuring delivery to programme, budget and quality standards whilst maintaining our commitment to safety, sustainability and customer satisfaction.

You will lead site teams, manage project performance and work closely with clients and supply chain partners to ensure successful outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage water sector civil engineering projects from inception through to completion.
  • Ensure the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance are maintained at all times.
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
  • Monitor project progress, resources, costs and programme performance.
  • Manage subcontractors and site teams, ensuring works are delivered safely and to the required quality standards.
  • Support commercial activities including valuations, variations and contract administration.
  • Ensure quality assurance processes are implemented and maintained, targeting right-first-time delivery and zero defects.
  • Maintain accurate project records and reporting, providing regular updates to clients and senior management.
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation and best practice across project delivery.
  • Promote and uphold the Bethell values of Safety, Customer Focus, Integrity, Sustainability and Excellence.

About You

We are looking for experienced construction professionals with a strong background in civil engineering and a proven ability to manage projects within a challenging and fast-paced environment.

Essential Requirements

  • HNC, HND or Degree in a construction or civil engineering related discipline.
  • SMSTS qualification.
  • CSCS accreditation.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience managing civil engineering projects, ideally within the water or utilities sector.
  • Good understanding of NEC contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Requirements

  • Temporary Works Supervisor qualification.
  • SEATS (Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme) certification.
  • Previous experience working on water industry frameworks.
