Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK's only international high-speed railway, London St. Pancras Highspeed (formally HS1).
The 109km London St. Pancras Highspeed infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts, and long tunnels. NRHS is also responsible for operating and maintaining three international stations; St Pancras, Stratford, and Ebbsfleet International.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, NRHS is privately financed under an agreement with our client London St. Pancras Highspeed, undertaking a diverse range of activities from railway infrastructure maintenance and operations - through to station facilities management and retail on behalf of our client.

About The Role
Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in Civil Engineering looking to deliver critical infrastructure projects on Britain's only high-speed railway?
At Network Rail High Speed, our Works Delivery teams are responsible for maintaining, renewing, and enhancing a diverse range of infrastructure assets across the High Speed route. From tunnels, viaducts, bridges, earthworks, and drainage systems to lineside structures and associated civil engineering assets, our projects play a vital role in keeping the railway safe, reliable, and operating at its best.
As a Project Manager (Civils), you'll lead the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects, working alongside multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
What You'll Do
As a Project Manager, you will be accountable for delivering a portfolio of Civils projects from inception through to completion, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance are achieved.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the delivery of Civils projects in accordance with Network Rail standards, legislation, and project governance requirements.
- Managing the successful delivery of renewals, maintenance, and enhancement projects across structures, tunnels, bridges, earthworks, drainage, and associated civil engineering assets.
- Inspiring, developing, and leading multidisciplinary project teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
- Working closely with engineering, commercial, programme controls, and delivery teams to develop robust project plans and drive efficient project delivery.
- Identifying and managing project risks, opportunities, and constraints, implementing effective mitigation strategies where required.
- Managing project budgets, forecasts, resources, and programme requirements to ensure efficient delivery.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, designers, and asset engineers.
- Establishing effective governance arrangements and ensuring clear reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Leading compliance with Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations and supporting Works Delivery Principal Contractor Licence obligations.
- Supporting the development of business cases, project scopes, investment justifications, and delivery strategies.
- Ensuring projects deliver long-term asset performance improvements and value for money.
- Leading and supporting accident and incident investigations where required, promoting a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.

Your Experience And Skills
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a confident and collaborative leader with experience managing complex Civil Engineering projects within a highly regulated environment.
Essential:
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Membership of the Association for Project Management (APM), Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent professional body.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of Construction Design and Management (CDM) Regulations.
- Proven experience delivering civil engineering, structures, or infrastructure projects within a complex project environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels.
- Experience managing project budgets, financial forecasting, and commercial performance.
- Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary teams and contractors.
- Strong planning, risk management, and decision-making capabilities.
- Detailed knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice.
- Experience undertaking or leading accident and incident investigations.
- Commitment to safe project delivery and continuous improvement.
It Would Be Great If You Also Have:
- Experience delivering projects within the rail industry.
- Knowledge of tunnels, viaducts, bridges, earthworks, drainage, and structural assets.
- Understanding of GRIP, PACE, or equivalent project delivery frameworks.
- Experience managing major infrastructure renewal or enhancement programmes.
- Knowledge of asset management principles and whole-life asset performance.
- Formal qualifications in risk management or contract management.
- Chartered status or working towards professional chartership.
