Job Description
Overview
At AtkinsRéalis, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We believe great project managers can come from many different sectors and backgrounds. That's why we're interested in your ability to lead teams, build relationships, solve problems, manage complexity and deliver successful outcomes, not simply the industry in which you've gained your experience.
Our Northeast & Yorkshire team is one of the fastest growing project management communities within AtkinsRéalis, supporting clients across a diverse range of complex programmes and projects including transportation (highways & rail), energy, defence, nuclear, aviation and water. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work across multiple sectors, broaden your experience and help shape the future of our growing regional presence.
Join us and you'll be part of a genuinely collaborative environment where everyone is valued, supported and encouraged to develop. We place great emphasis on professional growth, knowledge sharing and creating opportunities for our people to reach their full potential.
Flexible and remote working are central to our culture, so talk to us about what's important to you, from reduced weeks to buying additional leave, and how we can support your ambitions both inside and outside of work.
Your role
- Deliver high-quality project and programme management services throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support clients in defining objectives, managing risks and achieving successful outcomes.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, reporting and governance arrangements.
- Build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Coordinate and lead multi-disciplinary teams to achieve agreed objectives.
- Identify and manage risks, issues, dependencies and opportunities.
- Monitor progress and provide clear, timely and insightful reporting.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across project teams.
- Drive continuous improvement and share best practice with colleagues.
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of our Northeast & Yorkshire team.
Depending on your experience and level, you may also lead major projects, manage client relationships, support business development activities and mentor junior colleagues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
