- Temporary Full Time Opportunity up to 30 June 2029
- Office location – Newcastle with statewide travel required
- Salary ranges from $116,981 to $129,492 plus super
Are you an experienced project professional with a passion for delivering infrastructure projects and managing built assets? We're looking for a motivated Project Officer Assets to join our team and play a key role in maintaining, improving and protecting assets located across Crown land throughout NSW.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning construction, demolition, remediation, maintenance and asset improvement initiatives that directly support communities and public outcomes.
The role
As a Project Officer Assets, you will provide project management and technical support across a broad range of asset-related activities. You will coordinate and deliver projects from conception through to completion while ensuring compliance with government requirements, stakeholder expectations and asset management best practice.
No two days are the same. One day you may be managing a building remediation project, and the next coordinating specialist investigations, planning maintenance programs or preparing funding submissions for future asset improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Manage construction, demolition and land remediation projects from initiation through to delivery.
- Coordinate project planning, procurement, approvals, consultants and contractors.
- Monitor project performance to ensure delivery within scope, budget and timeframes.
Asset Investigations
- Manage specialist investigations including:
- Structural assessments
- Hazardous materials (Hazmat) assessments
- Heritage impact assessments
- Environmental assessments
- Defect and condition investigations
Asset Management
- Prepare, review and maintain asset management documentation.
- Develop and implement maintenance and repair programs.
- Support funding applications and business cases for asset renewal and improvement projects.
- Contribute to long-term asset planning and lifecycle management.
Technical Advice & Procurement
- Provide advice on government procurement requirements and processes.
- Manage construction and facilities management contracts using standard NSW Government contract forms.
- Provide guidance on construction methodologies, project risks and compliance obligations.

About You
We're looking for someone who can combine technical knowledge with strong project management capability.
You will have:
- Experience managing infrastructure, construction, maintenance or asset-related projects.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Knowledge of asset management principles and practices.
- Experience managing consultants and contractors.
- Understanding of procurement and contract management processes.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Asset Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Engineering, or relevant field, or relevant experience
- Current Australian Driver Licence
- Willing and able to travel
