Project Officer - Events

Glasgow Life is a charity like no other. Our vision is to improve the lives of everyone in our city. To help us achieve that, we are looking for two Project Officers to join our Events team focused on supporting the delivery of Glasgow’s Host City commitments to UEFA EURO 2028.
We are looking for a Project Officer to support the Festival Event Manager and a Project Officer to support the Project Management & Governance Manager.

What you need to know
- Hours: 35 per week.
- Contract type: Fixed Term until 30 September 2028
- Pay details: The listed salary is for a full-time role.
- Location: Hybrid. You will spend part of your week at home, and part of your week in one of our offices.

For Fixed Term Roles - If offer is made to internal employee (Glasgow Life or Council Family), at the end of the temporary period, eligible employees, if agreed will have a right to return to a role at their substantive grade within the council family.
What you’ll do
The Project Officer will play a vital role in supporting the Glasgow Life team in the delivery of UEFA EURO 2028 and ensuring that Glasgow Life can continue to deliver its core event portfolio.
As Project Officer, you’ll join Glasgow Life’s Events team on a full-time, fixed-term basis until September 2028. The role requires a proactive individual to coordinate the planning and delivery of UEFA EURO 2028, assisting the team by supporting them with the development of key documentation and processes and liaising with city agencies as well as internal and external partners to meet Glasgow Life’s commitments to business-as-usual and Glasgow 2026.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reporting to the Festival Event Manager and Project Management & Governance Manager you will support the planning and delivery of assigned responsibilities across multiple operational areas contributing to the successful delivery of UEFA EURO 2028.
- Assist the Festival Event Manager in liaising with city agencies such as licensing and multi-agency groups to ensure paperwork is submitted, processed, and managed.
- Input and management of key processes and key documentation.
- Working with the Festival Event Manager and Operations team place orders for temporary infrastructure and equipment and oversee delivery plans and logistics.
- Work with the Event leads to assist with all safety plans, method statements, and risk assessments to ensure the safe planning and delivery of events.
- Work closely with wider project team and Glasgow Life colleagues such as marketing, media, and finance in the planning and delivery.
- Develop project management plans and milestones alongside the Project Management & Governance Manager.
- Implement and manage change control processes throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- Coordinate project reporting and support participation in audits as required.
- Work with colleagues and partners to facilitate event evaluation and reporting requirements, including post-event knowledge share.
- To undertake any other duties as required.

Who you are
We’re looking for someone with the right skills who brings energy to the role. If the following sounds like you, apply today!
We’re looking for:
- Experience of programme or project management within a complex, multi-partner environment, ideally in major events, sport, culture, public services, or visitor-economy programmes.
- An appropriate level of qualification/training or employment experience of event organisations.
- Employment experience of the operational and delivery elements of cultural and/or sporting events.
- Knowledge and understanding of the guidelines detailed within the HSE’s ‘The Event Safety Guide’.
- Good team-working, enthusiasm, and ability to problem solve.
- Experience of working in public sector environments.
- Excellent people and communication skills, with the ability to work in partnership with multiple stakeholders, understand expectations, and deliver against agreed service levels.
- Ability to assimilate large volumes of information and organise it into a clear, accurate, and communicable format.
- Strong project management skills, including experience of using project management tools and software to track milestones, actions, risks, and progress across multiple workstreams.
- Accuracy and attention to detail, with experience of writing operational plans.
