Are you an experienced and motivated Project Officer ready to help shape and deliver behavioural change programmes that will make Sussex’s roads safer for everyone.
The Opportunity
- Salary: £44,075 to £47,181 per annum
- Working Pattern: Full time 37 hour per week
- Location: County Hall, Chichester and Hybrid working
- Contract: Fixed term/Secondment until 30/09/2028
- Interview date: W/C 24/08/2026
As a Project Officer, you will support the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP) and play a key role in delivering and overseeing a diverse programme of behaviour change initiatives across Sussex. Working collaboratively with Partners and external organisations, you will identify, develop and drive new opportunities to improve road safety outcomes.
You will be responsible for managing contracts and financial processes, preparing project briefs and evaluation reports, and providing professional and technical support to Partners. This varied role offers the opportunity to influence strategic road safety initiatives while ensuring effective project delivery and measurable impact.
Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including SSRP Partners, local authorities and road safety professionals, you will research, develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based interventions aimed at reducing road casualties, with a particular focus on vulnerable and high-risk road users.

What are we looking for?
- Excellent communicator, adept at conveying complex information clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Experience of managing projects from inception to completion.
- Strong research, analytical, and interpretative skills to produce reports, bids, and business cases.
- Excellent organisational skills and efficient at prioritising tasks to meet deadlines with minimal disruption.
- Strategic thinker, skilled in forward planning and evaluating service effectiveness to achieve targets.
- Proficient in negotiating and influencing stakeholders to deliver value and effective road safety interventions.
