MOD Contract Opportunities | Bristol

We are recruiting for a number of current Project Planner and Project Scheduler contract vacancies supporting MOD programmes around Bristol.

New requirements are released regularly through an established MOD delivery framework with additional vacancies added most weeks.

The exact programme, defence domain, and project context can vary, although the core planning and scheduling capability remains broadly consistent.

These roles suit hands-on planners and schedulers who are used to building, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules rather than simply reporting from them.

For the right person, they offer the chance to work directly within an MOD delivery environment. Contract lengths vary by assignment, and extensions are common, with many assignments continuing beyond their initial term.

Contract rates

Rates are determined by the framework level attached to each requirement:

  • Level 2 / C2: £250-£300/day inside IR35
  • Level 3 / C1: £350-£400/day inside IR35

Essential criteria

There are some firm requirements across these vacancies. You must:

  • Be a sole British national
  • Already hold current SC clearance
  • Have a strong UK defence or MOD-facing background
  • Be able to work in Bristol around 3 days per week
  • Live within a realistic commuting distance as routine travel to Bristol is not expensed
  • Be comfortable working on an inside IR35 contract

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Primavera P6 is widely used across these opportunities and is particularly valuable where it is backed by genuine schedule ownership.

Microsoft Project is also relevant as MOD usage varies, although P6 is more prominent. The important point is practical planning and scheduling capability rather than simply having a tool listed on your CV.

Experience of EVM, schedule risk analysis, resource planning, or CADMID can also be useful depending on the individual vacancy.

Some requirements may ask for experience within a particular defence domain such as air, maritime, land, digital, or infrastructure. These specifics change as new vacancies are released.

About the vacancies

These are current MOD contract opportunities rather than one single project vacancy.

New Planning and Scheduling requirements are released regularly. The programme, domain, and specific scheduling environment can change as further vacancies are added.

If you have strong defence planning experience and can demonstrate real schedule development, maintenance, and analysis, please apply. I will review your experience and contact you.
