Scope
The Project Delivery and Planning function sits at the core of our technical delivery structures, providing the execution logic, baseline control, and alignment that underpin both Delivery and Practice Management. The team ensures capability at every level, matching planning expertise to client needs—ranging from foundational project tracking through to strategic schedule oversight of complex programmes.
Our planning specialists underpin the smooth running of client engagements across work packages, managed services, and fully externalised models. By standardising timelines, maintaining master schedules, driving progress tracking, and supporting governance, the team safeguards quality, compliance, and efficiency. Acting as a trusted partner to clients and delivery leads, the planning function provides stability, transparency, and assurance across diverse public and private sector portfolios, while continuously improving practices to strengthen both immediate outcomes and long-term service maturity.

Role
As a Project / Programme Planner, you will provide essential planning and scheduling support to Programme Managers and wider delivery teams, helping to ensure the smooth running of projects and services. Your responsibilities will include assisting with schedule development, coordination, reporting, and maintaining key project timelines.
As you develop your understanding of Akkodis ways of working, you will also begin to gain exposure to supporting the management of work packages, providing a valuable foundation for future progression within the wider project delivery and programme management structures.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone at the junior-to-mid stage of their career to build core planning and tracking skills within a structured environment, gaining experience across a variety of clients and delivery models while contributing to impactful work in both public and private sectors.
Responsibilities
- Provide scheduling, planning, and coordination support to ensure the smooth tracking of project activities – Primarily using Microsoft Project (MSP)
- Work closely with the Programme Manager and delivery teams to maintain project timeline standards and ensure adherence to planning best practices.
- Assist in the preparation of project schedules and baseline documentation, including progress reports, look-ahead plans, and stakeholder presentations.
- Maintain project trackers, Microsoft Project (MSP) plans, and dashboards to monitor progress against milestones and deliverables in support of existing PMO functions.
- Schedule and organise schedule review meetings, workshops, and other project-related timeline alignment sessions.
- Support communication and stakeholder engagement efforts, including drafting schedule updates and coordinating milestone feedback.
- Help identify and escalate potential scheduling risks, dependency conflicts, or critical path issues to the Programme Manager.
- Coordinate with team members and external partners to ensure alignment, task tracking, and timely delivery of milestones.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with project governance processes and schedule health standards.

Required Experience
- Previous experience in a project planning, scheduling, or advanced coordination role.
- Exposure to working with integrated master schedules within a technical, digital, or data-driven environment is advantageous.
- Hands-on experience with project management planning tools (specifically MSP) and tracking methodologies.
- Familiarity with stakeholder engagement and timeline communication processes.
Required Skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project (MSP) is essential, alongside the wider Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and alternative tracking tools such as Trello, Jira, or equivalent.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification/experience.
- Project management certification (e.g., PRINCE2 Foundation, AgilePM) is a plus but not mandatory.
