Project Planner

Salary: DOE

Holidays: 26 days per annum plus bank holidays increasing with service

Hours: 40 hours per week

Benefits: Private Health care provided, Extended pension

Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Project Planner to support the successful delivery of our projects by developing, maintaining and monitoring detailed project programmes. Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams and stakeholders, you will be responsible for tracking progress, identifying potential risks and delays, coordinating project activities and ensuring programmes remain accurate and up to date throughout the project lifecycle. This role would suit an organised and detail-focused individual with strong planning, communication and problem-solving skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment and playing a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and update detailed project programmes.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to understand project requirements, progress and upcoming activities.
  • Monitor project progress against agreed programmes and key milestones.
  • Identify potential delays, risks and programme issues and escalate these where appropriate.
  • Produce regular programme updates and progress reports.
  • Track project activities, resources and key deliverables.
  • Assist Project Managers with planning and sequencing of works.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams where required.
  • Attend project and planning meetings and provide updates on programme performance.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
  • Support the commercial and project teams with programme information where required.
  • Ensure programmes are kept up to date throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve project delivery and planning processes.

Essential Experience

  • Experienced in project planning, ideally within engineering, construction, utilities or the water/wastewater sector.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident working with project programmes and deadlines.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • A strong communicator who can build effective relationships with project teams and clients.
  • Proactive and able to identify potential issues before they become problems.
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and other project management/planning software.
  • Comfortable working with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Teams and senior management.
  • Able to work independently while also being a strong team player.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within the water/wastewater or utilities sector.
  • Experience working with P6, Microsoft Project or similar planning software.
  • Knowledge of construction or engineering project delivery.
  • Understanding of project controls, programme management and critical path analysis.
