You will join the Planning and Programme Management Team as a Degree Apprentice Project Planner, receiving structured academic learning alongside practical on-the-job training to develop into a competent Project Planner.

Working under the guidance of experienced Programme Managers and Project Managers, you will learn how to develop, maintain and monitor construction programmes that support the successful planning and delivery of projects across the business.

The role provides the opportunity to gain valuable experience in project planning, project controls and NEC contract programming while completing a recognised degree apprenticeship.

As a growing business, no two days are ever the same. You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship by experienced professionals who will help you develop the technical, professional and interpersonal skills required to build a successful career in project planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive structured training in project planning and the use of Microsoft Project and other industry-standard planning and scheduling software, as required.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of tender, baseline and contract programmes.
  • Learn how to develop and maintain NEC Clause 31, Clause 32 and compensation event programmes.
  • Support Programme Managers with programme updates, revisions and reporting.
  • Assist in monitoring project progress against programme milestones and identifying potential risks and delays.
  • Attend project meetings, planning workshops and site visits to gain an understanding of project delivery.
  • Learn how to sequence construction activities and develop programme logic.
  • Support the preparation of look-ahead programmes and project planning reports.
  • Gain an understanding of NEC contracts, project controls, planning techniques and construction methodologies.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Directors, Programme Managers, Project Managers, Estimators, Quantity Surveyors and project teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Complete degree apprenticeship studies and apply learning within the workplace.

Candidate Profile

  • A genuine interest in construction, engineering or project management.
  • A willingness to learn and develop a career in project planning.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A logical and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • An interest in learning planning and scheduling software.
