Job Description
At METLEN Energy & Metals, we are catalysts for a sustainable future, positioned at the forefront of the energy transition while being a reference point for competitive green metallurgy at both the European and global levels. We are a global industrial and energy company operating across two highly interconnected and complementary sectors: Energy and Metals. With a consolidated turnover of €5,683 million and an EBITDA of €1,080 million, along with a workforce of over 7,627 dedicated individuals, we drive success through cutting-edge technology and diverse talent.
Metlen Energy and Metals is seeking a Project Planner to support our M Renewables Division across the United Kingdom. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects and shaping best-in-class project controls across a growing portfolio.
This position will report to the Project Controls Manager, to support the Project Delivery and Construction teams in developing, managing, and optimizing project schedules across the full EPC lifecycle, ensuring successful and timely delivery of renewable energy projects.
Your Role Will Encompass:
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules using MS Project and/or Primavera P6 across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning phases.
- Establish baseline programmes and perform critical path analysis, float management, and schedule validation.
- Conduct scenario and “what-if” analyses to assess programme risks and identify mitigation strategies with key stakeholders.
- Lead project controls activities across multiple projects, including progress tracking, forecasting, and portfolio reporting.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports including narratives, KPIs, S-curves, milestone tracking, and executive dashboards for internal and client reporting.
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Cost Controllers to align programme, cost, and resource planning.
- Review and integrate subcontractor schedules and WBS structures into the master programme.
- Monitor performance against baseline schedules, identify deviations, and recommend corrective actions to maintain key milestones such as Energisation and COD.
- Support tender and contract award phases by developing high-level and detailed schedules and contributing to bid evaluations.
- Maintain structured records of schedule updates, changes, and impacts to ensure traceability and audit readiness.
- Assist in resource planning and optimisation to support project delivery targets.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
