Project Planner – Urgent Contract – Newcastle upon Tyne

We are urgently recruiting a Project Planner on behalf of our client, a major engineering business based in Newcastle upon Tyne, for an immediate contract start. Rates are negotiable depending on experience.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Planner, the Project Planner will play a key role in creating and maintaining project plans, resource and cost schedules, and performance reporting across multiple complex projects, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure planning information supports decisions at both project and business level.

Key Responsibilities
- Create and update Project Plans in Primavera software
- Create and update Resource & Cost Schedules
- Produce Histograms and S-Curves directly from Primavera, based on Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies
- Apply SPI & CPI as project performance metrics
- Develop reports from Primavera and other tools to support project understanding
- Communicate planning techniques and their value to the wider Project Team
- Liaise across functions to ensure planning data is understood from project through to business level
- Keep stakeholders informed of current project status, presenting information with sound judgement
- Manage and control multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Develop tracking documentation and support the standardisation of planning processes
- Review process documentation and contribute improvement recommendations
- Question and probe work pack leaders / lead engineers on data received during and after plan updates
- Support the Senior Planner and wider implementation team in the roll-out of an integrated ERP system
- Undertake any other duties as directed by line management or a Company Director

What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Planner using Primavera, ideally within a multi-database, multi-project environment
- Strong working knowledge of Earned Value Management, SPI and CPI
- Experience developing resource and cost plans, histograms and S-Curves
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present planning data clearly to varied stakeholders
- Highly organised, flexible, and comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required
- Immediately available or on short notice preferred, given the urgency of this requirement
