Description
The Project Planner will be responsible for developing, maintaining and managing project programmes across multiple contracts, ensuring compliance with NEC3 and NEC4 contractual requirements.
Working closely with commercial, operational and project delivery teams, the role will focus on creating accurate and achievable programmes, supporting compensation event assessments, monitoring project performance and providing programme analysis to support project delivery and commercial outcomes.
A key aspect of the position will be understanding how NEC programmes are developed, managed and represented under Clause 32, together with the ability to demonstrate programme impacts, delays, mitigation measures and recovery plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and monitor detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Produce baseline programmes and ensure regular progress updates are completed accurately and in line with project requirements.
- Prepare, manage and maintain NEC3 and NEC4 compliant Clause 32 Programmes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Produce detailed programme narratives and supporting documentation to accompany programme submissions, progress updates, compensation events and contractual communications.
- Develop and maintain cost-loaded and resource-loaded programmes to support forecasting, resource planning and project controls.
- Analyse project performance against contractual milestones, key deliverables and critical path activities.
- Identify programme risks, constraints and delays, developing mitigation and recovery strategies where required.
- Create and demonstrate cause and effect programmes to support compensation events and entitlement claims.
- Assess the impact of change, delay and disruption events and prepare recovery programmes where necessary.
- Support the commercial team in demonstrating delay, recovery of time and programme performance through detailed programme analysis.
- Review and challenge proposed sequencing of works, applying practical construction methodology knowledge to ensure programmes remain logical, efficient and achievable.
- Work closely with project managers, site teams and commercial teams to ensure programme information accurately reflects project delivery requirements.
- Support tender and pre-construction activities through the production of programmes, phasing plans and resource schedules.
- Prepare and present programme reports, dashboards and planning information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a client-facing representative for planning matters, attending progress meetings and presenting programme updates confidently and professionally.
- Assist in the management and assessment of programme-related contractual matters under NEC contracts.

Experience and Qualifications
- Proven experience in a Project Planner, Senior Planner or Project Controls role.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
- Comprehensive understanding of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts.
- Detailed knowledge of Clause 32 Programme requirements and programme management under NEC contracts.

Desirable Experience and Qualifications
- Experience within fencing, construction, utilities, infrastructure, highways, rail, civil engineering or energy sectors.
- Degree or qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of programme delay analysis techniques.
- Understanding of project controls and performance measurement methodologies.
