Role Overview

We are looking for a Project Planning Manager to work with the various stakeholders for all overhaul and fleet asset projects and reporting to the Head of Operations, the Project Planning Manager – BSC will ensure that all short, medium and long term plans are established and delivered on time, in full. The Project Planning Manager will oversee the delivery of service communication and daily schedules, in line with customer demand forecast.

You’ll Make a Difference By

  • Leading Project Planning & Resource Management - Develop and maintain a comprehensive plan for all Customer Service portfolios, ensuring resource availability and alignment with maintenance schedules.
  • Driving Service Delivery Excellence - Oversee project execution from start to finish, ensuring cost, quality, and delivery targets are met while maintaining clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing Order & Production Planning - Ensure SAP order management is up to date and align production plans with customer demands and business revenue goals.
  • Supporting Commercial & Sales Teams - Provide expertise in tenders, ensuring realistic project scopes and coherence with production capabilities.
  • Enhancing Technical Documentation & Compliance - Collate and verify bogie and wheelset data while supporting technical administration for accurate project records.
  • Championing Continuous Improvement - Lead and support improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency within the team.
  • Upholding Health, Safety & Environmental Standards - Implement safe working practices, comply with HSQEW policies, and take responsibility for maintaining a safe and sustainable workplace.
  • Demonstrating Strong Leadership & Collaboration - Foster effective working relationships with internal and external customers, driving operational success and positive team dynamics.

Your Success Will Be Grounded By

Essential

  • Experience working within fast-paced production environments in an industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Good understanding of project management, planning principles, and the rail industry.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships and work with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Experience using and implementing planning software.
  • Strong background in material planning and production control.
  • Experience within customer service or a similar customer-facing environment.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Technical background and/or experience across engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in productivity planning and continuous improvement activities.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of MMS systems, ideally CORMAP.
  • Good understanding of relevant IT systems and software.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and operating databases.
