Procurement Professional – UK & Ireland (Renewables & Energy Storage)

About the Role

We are seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented Procurement Professional with specialized experience in sourcing, contract management, and supplier negotiation within the energy sector, particularly for UK & Ireland markets.

You will:

  • Bring deep expertise in UK & Ireland market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and local supplier ecosystems, with a focus on renewable energy, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
  • Excel in end-to-end procurement to optimize cost, ensure compliance, and deliver critical goods/services on time.
  • Navigate EU procurement standards, local tax and logistics complexities, and manage relationships with multicultural supplier teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement Planning & Project Support
    • Lead sourcing strategies aligned with EPC/turnkey project procurement.
    • Collaborate with engineering, legal, logistics, and delivery teams to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Supplier Qualification & Contract Management

    • Develop and execute RFQ/RFI processes, conduct cost benchmarking, and onboard new suppliers.
    • Negotiate supplier contracts, fostering long-term relationships for renewable project components.
  • Category & Systems Management

    • Source and manage procurements for grid-tied components including:
      • MV switchgear, SCADA systems, battery enclosures, transformers
    • Operate within SAP (MM), Unifier, Coupa, Ariba, and standard MS Office tools.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Expertise

    • Ensure alignment with EU/local energy regulations and sustainability standards (ESG procurement).
    • Support legal assessments for NDAs, contract terms, and risk mitigation.
  • Language Skills

    • Fluent in English and Dutch; proficiency in Nordic languages is a bonus.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Proven track record in developing local supplier networks for EU (UK/Ireland) renewable projects (solar, wind).
  • Led Procurement activities end-to-end for utilities, particularly TSO/DSO clients, with a focus on cost optimization and timeline adherence.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet aggressive project budgets and deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business (or equivalent hands-on experience).

Preferred:

  • CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply Chain Management) or NEVI (National E−Procurement Centre of Excellence) certification.
  • Knowledge of energy grid infrastructure (i.e., substations, battery systems, SCADA integrations).
  • Direct experience managing sourcing for renewable projects, including technical and commercial negotiations.

Preferred Skills

✅ Deep familiarity with UK/Ireland renewable energy supplier base ✅ SAP MM, Coupa, Unifier experience ✅ ESG/sustainability procurement experience ✅ Expertise in Technical Contracts (SLAs, performance guarantees, warranties)
