West Berkshire Council is seeking a skilled and experienced Project & Programme Manager to join our Projects Service, reporting to the Accommodation Review Programme Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a range of high-profile projects and contribute to the delivery of essential services for our local community.
About The Role
As Project & Programme Manager for the Accommodation Review at WBC, you will be responsible for:
- Managing and leading the successful delivery of projects and programmes within the Transformation Service
- Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables
- Monitoring and reporting on project and programme progress, identifying and managing risks and issues
- Leading project teams and facilitating effective communication and collaboration
The Accommodation Review Programme is transforming how West Berkshire Council uses its property estate, ensuring buildings are fit for purpose, cost-effective, and support modern service delivery. The programme includes office moves, service relocations, estate rationalisation, and the repurposing of council assets. As a Project & Programme Manager, you will lead a range of projects within this programme, working with services, staff and stakeholders to deliver change, improve asset utilisation, and help shape the Council's future estate. The role will also support the Council's readiness for Local Government Reorganisation, ensuring property and asset decisions align with future organisational requirements.
This is a fixed term role until 30/04/2027 (Funding limited project)

About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Proven experience in project and programme management, ideally within a local authority or public sector environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience of assets or estate related change management
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising tasks effectively
- Proficient in using project management tools and methodologies
- Passion for making a difference and delivering value to our residents

- You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service. (Pro rata for fixed term)
